Yes it is possible to network your PS2. Their are 2 methods, you can either Link it up Via System-Link direct to another PS2 which involves using an Ethernet cable being plugged into the back of both consoles.

or alternatively you can hook up your PS2 to your home network (if you have one), Simply plug an Ethernet cable into the back of the PS2. and into one of the Empty LAN Slots on the back of your Router !

Hope This Helps !?

How can I connect a old PS2 to the internet

Hello rsilva,
I will help you out.
Follow these steps to connect your ps2 to the internet
  1. Turn off your ps2
  2. Grab your ethernet cable
  3. put one end of the cable into the corresponding port in the back of your ps2 (if you do not have it, it means you have the first version of the ps2 and have to buy the modem separately).
  4. connect the other end of the cable in a free port in your router (or in the port of your broadband modem)
  5. turn on your modem if it's not on already, and turn your router on as well if it wasn't on
  6. turn on ps2
  7. put in your playstation 2 network disc or a game that has internet game modes
  8. (if you choose to do it with an internet-enabled game, then go to the online section in it)
  9. create a network configuration
  10. load it
  11. create a playstation network id
  12. enjoy!

My psp-go it saying Error 80550F17 at my playstation network

Hi,

This error message means that the Playstation Network is currently unavailable.

It is usually a temporary error and the store will be available again shortly (within a few hours).

Sony has a twitter account for status updates:
http://twitter.com/AskPlayStation

Apparently the PSN network is currently down:

"The PlayStation Network will be down for maintenance approx 8am-7pm PST Wednesday 03/09/2011. We apologize for the inconvenience."

Please rate my answer.

Many thanks,

I have an older PS2 and wondering what I need to hook it up on the internet. Do I need a network adapter or just an ethernet cable? or Both?

If you have an older model, then you would need both. If you have the PS2 "slim" then it comes network ready.
