Question about Fuji FinePix S1000FD Digital Camera

Zoom error When I turn my camera on it displays "zoom error" and the zoom lens does not come out automatically. I'm in Papua New Guinea and have no access to any repair shop. Is there anything I can do to fix it.

My camera did the same thing today. Now it won't take any pictures. I had the camera around my neck and it just stopped taking pics and says "zoom error" and now the zoom doesn't work and won't even take a pic. Someone please help!

Turn Camera off remove batteries for a few moments. Re insert batteries. Turn on will reset itself. Ensure you use correct focus settings as per instructions. If you dont use correct settings this problem will reoccur.

This camera's quality is sub standard and these zoom errors that many customers get is a sign of a bad camera.

Mine said that when I turned it on with the lens cap on. I turned off the camera and then took off the lens cap and then turned it on and it worked.

Camera beeps and turns off and lens won't retract

Lens error / Battery expire.
1. Use a new battery will fully charged and then use it. Hope you get good result.

2. Some time lens zooming gear getting damaged by dust. if that gear is scrached by dust then your lens can't work and it will stucked. Your camera automatically turn off.

Of those 2 85% chance of poor/ long time used Battery & 15% chance of lens zooming gear damaged.

Thanks, i am waiting for your feed back & if you satisfied then thumps me please.

When the camera is turned on , the zoom tries to adjust twice while the displays says" access" then it Says" Turn the power offand on again" Following the instruction does not solve the problem, we can see...

Hi,
The error "Turn off the power and on again" shows when the zoom motor start malfunction, If you want to repair by yourself and have experience then change the optical zoom motor it will reduce your cost. Otherwise you can change complete lens block assembly, both part and description is given below for your help and convenience:

Part No. Description
1-788-363-11 OPTICS UNIT (ED13A) (complete lens block assy)

2-673-648-01 ZOOM MOTOR UNIT

You can contact any expert or Sony Service Center to change the above said part and your camera work fine again.
Thanks for using fixya.

Camera lens wont extend, has zoom error

It seems the mechanism has been damaged or is faulty is someway.
The devices are very fragile and the slightest knock can send th askew.
As it appears to be new - lets assume it is a faulty camera and return it to vendor

Zoom will not retract

Dear Grammie,

You have either experienced a lens error or your zoom dial is broken (both usually caused by some sort of impact damage, but which can be spontaneously occuring).

Look for an error message on your camera's LCD screen such as "E18," or "lens error restart camera." If you do not see a lens error but simply cannot retract your zom lens (go into wide angle mode) via the zoom lever then it simply maybe a broken command dial. Either way, however, you will need to have the camera serviced in all likelihood. Call tech support at 1-800-828-4040 M-F from 8 am to 12 midnight EST and Saturdays until 8 pm EST. Hope this helps.

Sincerely,
HeavyDLB
