Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 - 40512SU screen is dark

This is a brand new Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 - 40512SU that I've only charged.. added Windows Vista to.. turned it off.. went to use 4 hours later.. and it's burning hot... plugged it in.. and now the screen doesn't work.. and it's really dark..

Thank you for responding.. the bottom of the computer was hot and it was stored in a carrier even though it was turned off. Yes, it's under warranty and Circuit city is offering to exchange it back for a brand new one. Just curious if this brand is reliable like Circuit City says it is. Had problems w/Toshiba. Hewlett Package was not recommended saying they have a lot of problems with them. I want to stay in the $700 price range.. Do you have any recommendations? Apparently, this computer model is brand new.

Kind of a crappy solution. If it's brand new it should be under warranty, right? Did you buy it retail? Also, where was it hot, all over, the battery, the screen...? Does the screen display anything (is just the backlight out) or is the screen just black all the time?

Have you installed the Lenovo EnergyCut drivers? Without it, laptop may not work properly and turns extra hot. Try letting it cool down before you try again.

My lenovo z500 has a screen brightness issue. It very dim and it won't turn up no matter what I do?

Hi, I had this problem also and I don't know why, but Lenovo Ideapad Z500 seems to have some compatibilities issues with a new Intel video card.
So, what you need to do is rolling back the HD intel video card driver to the previous version OR go to the following path: D:\drivers\VGA\Intel\x64\9.17.10 and press Setup to install the old driver again.
That solved my problem. It's a shame that I can't upload this driver in my laptop.

In my lenovo ideapad u 160 easy capture camera is not functioning.

webcams do go bad. In my experience when a webcam stops functioning in one way, shape, or form it's usually the actual webcam that's faulty.

After installing windows 7 webcam is not functining

Your lenevo IdeaPad S10 doesn't support windows 7 nor Windows Vista, so no drivers is available for your webcam. You might be able to install Windows 7 but only Windows XP drivers are available from IBM site.

If your system has atleast support Windows Vista and the drivers for windows vista might work with windows 7 as 90% of the drivers meant for Windows Vista works fine with windows 7,

Check out the chipset of your webcam and go to the manufacturer site and check if any updates are available from their side.

Good Luck..

Happy New Year.

Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 - 40512SU

Ensure that you did not press the conbination of keys that switches to the external screen, on thinkpads this is Function key , plus one of the numbers.

Check if the computer is in sleep (hybernate) mode, in this case you should be able to wake it up with the start button, or on some model with the wake up button.

IF you still cannto restart the computer, then it is probably frozen, remove battery and try to restart the laptop in this way.

After restarting check the power settings (you find them also on display properties/screensaver, or in the control panel). set the computer not to turn off.

If the computer screen does not turn on again doing the above, or there is no way to wake it up when it goes in standby, then the unit may be faulty.
If the computer is new, in this case, better getting a replacement or a repair.
