Change hydrostatic transmission oil

I'd like to change the transmission oil on my ~4 yr old Rider 155. The oil in the reservoir looks very black. The operators manual says I should top up the level as required with 10-30 oil, but doesn't give any further instruction on oil change. Looks like 2 drain bolts on bottom of transaxle. Any suggestions?

I removed both drain plugs, drained the oil and replaced with approx 1.7 liters of 10-30 Mobil1 synthetic. Working OK so far.

We have tractors and, yes any of those drain bolts will work (for best results do both) then after its drained, put the drain bolts back in and top up the level

Where is the transmission oil serviced

Run the Low Rider's motor for a few minutes to warm the oil up. Shut off the bike.
  • 2 Find your Low Rider's drain plug (on the oil pan). Using the screwdriver, loosen then remove the drain plug, and drain the oil into the drain pan.
  • 3 Remove the Low Rider's dipstick.
  • 4 Let the oil drain completely.
  • 5 Clean the drain plug threads with a clean cloth or paper towel, apply sealant, and replace the oil plug and dipstick.
  • 6 Move the drain pan to beneath the oil filter. Using the oil filter wrench, remove the oil filter.
  • 7 Discard the filter in the pan with the old oil. It is full of oil.
  • 8 With a clean rag or paper towel, clean the area where the gasket meets the motor.
  • 9 With a clean finger, rub a bit of new oil on the gasket of the new oil filter before installing it.
  • 10 Install the new filter, turning until snug, then turn it by hand another 1/2 turn. Take care to not over-tighten, as this will damage the filter gasket or the filter, possibly causing the Low Rider to fail.
  • 11 Open the oil reservoir, using the funnel; fill the tank with the fresh oil and close the reservoir.
  • 12 Run the motor for a few moments to coat the engine with the new oil. Check for leaks. (If you find any, check the filter and drain plug for a tight fit.)
  • 13 If there are no leaks, after the motor has run for a few minutes, turn off the motor and check the oil level. Top it off if necessary.

  • hope this helps

F250 2wd, When I put a new steering gear in, how do I flush the power steering pump

disconnect the return pipe to the reservoir, and put it into container to catch the oil.block off the hole in the reservoir[where the hose would have gone].fill reservoir with new ATF oil.jack front of vehicle up,turn the steering back and forth.that will purge any old oil into the container.briefly start motor, that will push new oil thru the system, and clean out pump.then reconnect return hose, refill reservoir, and start motor, turning the steering back and forth, making sure reservoir is always full.when the oil stops going down, put vehicle back on ground, and check power steer operations

Not an expert but have a rider 155. After looking at diagram on partstree.com, it does not appear to have a filter. Just a magnetic drain plug. This is the only site I have found for info and parts.
