I don't see this this product as choices to choose.. so I just chose any just to get this through.
I bought brand new today at Circuit City Lenovo IdeaPad Y530 - 40512SU , charged battery, installed Windows Vista, touched button on top left (thought it was the off/on button).. Lights went out, closed lid.. stored away for 4 hours. Went to use and it was burning hot.. now screen is dark, but computer is running.

Ensure that you did not press the conbination of keys that switches to the external screen, on thinkpads this is Function key , plus one of the numbers.
Check if the computer is in sleep (hybernate) mode, in this case you should be able to wake it up with the start button, or on some model with the wake up button.
IF you still cannto restart the computer, then it is probably frozen, remove battery and try to restart the laptop in this way.
After restarting check the power settings (you find them also on display properties/screensaver, or in the control panel). set the computer not to turn off.
If the computer screen does not turn on again doing the above, or there is no way to wake it up when it goes in standby, then the unit may be faulty. If the computer is new, in this case, better getting a replacement or a repair.

if you right click on desktop and go to properties or personalize depending on what o/s you're using then choose screensaver and adjust the time. if you want to change power options it's control panel then performance and maintenance then power options.
No worries, you should still be able to get onto your computer. It will just take a little elbow grease. Alright, so the first thing you need to do is turn off your laptop and then the steps will follow as such: 1. Turn the power on your laptop on 2. Press the F8 key on your keyboard as your laptop starts up 3. You will notice a few choices available to you at the menu that will come up, choose safe-mode with networking. 4. Your screen will fill with all kinds of writing indicating that it is loading files. Don't panic, this is normal do no turn off the laptop. 5. It will bring you to the login screen of windows, here you will want to choose Administrator. No password should be required(if we got lucky with this) 6. Once windows has fully loaded, go ahead and click start, then control panel, then find user accounts and family safety. 7. once in here, there should be an option to edit your account. Go ahead and make the changes necessary to your password. 8. once this has been done and everything is has been applied, go ahead and restart your computer.

hi! just a tip if its a brand new one try to isolate the problem check if it can actually run by removing the battery just by the ac adapter if still doesnt work then probably you have to charge the battery first if it still doesnt charge then probably there is somethin wrong with the power board. i suggest you call your lenovo tech support for further assistance. hope this would help goodluck!
If you can boot into safe mode, then you can run a repair. If you have Vista, then just boot from the cd and choose repair from the choice menu. You can also run repair from xp, when it gives you the choice menu of three things to choose from, choose to install windows, then the next thing, it will find your current windows installations and ask if you would rather repair the current one, choose yes and see if windows will fix itself. If that doesn't help, run the disc again and get into the command prompt and try fix the master boot record or fix boot. When the command prompt comes up type in FIXBOOT, there is also the command FIXMBR. click ok, restart and see if the machine boots up. Otherwise try to run diagnostics on windows from safe mode if possible.
go to lenovo or ibm webpage and select drivers download, chose your model and your operating system and download the display driver make sure it says nyvidia display driver . this will fix your problem.
