Question about Smeg SUK62MFX5 Gas Kitchen Range
My Smeg SUK62MFX5 has worked satisfactorily for about 2yrs. It has now developed a fault where the oven will not heat/operate. When I turn it on, the fan starts, the internal oven light comes on but the orange neon (to indicate it is heating) stays off. I've stripped the rear casing off the unit, checked as any connections as I can to no avail. Any ideas please? Any knowledge of any common faults on this cooker? Thank you very much Gary

problem is almost certainly the circular element. these sometimes fail with obvious damage but not always. check continuity across the element to be sure. you are right about element fixing. there is no reason why the design should'nt allow removal from the front as many do but i suppose the guys who make these things don't have to fix them.

the fan element would have blown. it is not uncommon for an element to trip an rcd when it blows. you are on the right track, if you replace the element all your problems should go away

Reset the clock that will make the heating element work, if your clock has stopped displaying (common fault) set as per instructions but you wont be able to set at any acurate time.
