I have the T-2885 e-machine. The problem I am having is the computer is not turning on when I push the button. Someone told me it might be the on off switch if so where can I purchase one at. I opened the computer up and all the wires are in correct. I noticed a 3v battery inside, what does that control? Hope you can help me with this problem. Thank you - Ruben

Re: Computer not turning on.
You will get the on/off switch in the market. The 3V battery that you see inside has nothing to do with the on/off switch. That battery saves your BIOS setting in CMOS when your computer is turned off.

The power button connects onto the motherboard with a jumper. One end of those cables probably go to the button the other end should connect to the motherboard where it says pwr with a few little pins.
most of the time there is a key although it may be feint directly below the pins for the power button wires showing exactly where they need to go if not you can search for a diagram on the motherboard manufacturers website
re check the computer is plugged in, and see if u can reset the circiut breaker on the power supply, the re try tuning the computer power switch button on. if it still wont turn on then take it to a repair facility for repair and explain to them EXACTLY , How I told you this, and have them check the computer.
sound like the computer is either in suspend mode > if this is the case, try holding down the power button for about 8 seconds.
If this doesn't turn it on i would suspect the powersupply. Iwouldn't look at the power button unless it's sticking OR has given you problem previously.
The three volt disc battery keeps your BIOS settings in tact.removing it will reset the bios and bios password if you ever get stuck with a bios password you cant remember.
The power supply can be replaced for about 45 dollars at staples or bestbuy.
Post here again if you nedd further assistance.
If you turn on the computer and it will beep once and the red light blinks means the computer is starting will.. but if the computer beep once and the red light blinks once means there are something missing or something bothering the computer.. try this Check the connection cable of your computer, the power source, the hardware interface, and if you installed a new hardware, try taking that hardware out and turn on again the computer. if the problem still exist try to disassemble and assemble the hardware of the computer. You must have someone with you know how to assemble and disassemble the computer hardware for safety method TY.
the front panel should come off where the plastic meets the metal part of the computer tower..u may be able to take the button back out and still use it..if it doesent work when u get it out u may have to look on the motherboard on the bottom right side to see if its plugged in it is a little black rectangle it plugs into to pins if u look really close it will say like pwr sw or something like that
