You used word FANS so seems you have two - probably one on processor and one on case. Unplug power cord, remove case cover and inspect for debris. Blow out gently with canned air if dirty. Retry. If still noisy, disconnect power cable to one fan and retry to see which one is making the noise. Then remove bad fan and take it and data on the computer make/model to a computer supply store and buy a new fan. Check that the hole pattern and power connector are the same. Take home and reinstall. Problem fixed for about $20.

Noisy cooling fan

Hello! You may have a cheap and loud fan. If it was not noisy earlier, you may have to clean it. It is not difficult at all. First, buy the cheapest clean compressed air spray on the market (approx $5.00-8.00). You just unscrew the computer chassis, and look for all fans. IMPORTANT: before you open the chassis, UNPLUG the PC. Now, if you don't want to "un-cable" the whole PC, just open the windows in your room. Spray the air onto the fan and below the fan where the heatsink is. A LOT of dust will fly blow off, you'll see.
Where are fans in your PC?
1.) On the CPU heatsink.
2.) one or two in the Power Supply Unit (where all the cables are coming out, kind of a metal box - just spray into it too.
3. Graphic card
4. Chassis fan(s)
Clean them all with the airflow from the compressed clean air can.
In addition I'd recommend you clean the other parts and boards, so you have a nice clean PC.
You may watch the attached video too, if you want to go deeper into it, but in my case it always helps. Note, that if your PC is really full of dust, you'll need the whole can to clean it. But it's worth it.
Hope I could help. If you have questions just leave a testimonial and I'll come back to you and help you with pleasure!

Laptop too noisy

Cleaning it out should help with that. Get a can of compressed air and clean out all the vents and fans. You can also use a vacuum with a hose attachment to clean it.

Need service manual for sony vaio PCG - 7171L

Try Sony's Website.

Get online and got to In the google search box type: "Sony Support" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operating system when requested. Look for Manuals throughout the site.

I would doubt that they have anything that would tell you how to replace the fan.

Hi there,

Try opening the chassis and clean the inside of the pc. You can use a blower to remove dusts inside the pc. Usually this is the culprit. Excessive dust will make your cooling system ineffective so the fan will run very fast to cool it down. If your pc is clean, check if there are wires touching the blades of the fan. Also check if there are broken blades in the fan. If everything is fine and still fan is noisy, you have to replace it.

Sometimes not always - puff of smoke when starting ( light colour) followed by lumpy tickover and noisey clacky sound from engine - all becomes ok when warm

I suspect smoke is just condensation in exhaust from suiting overnight. The other descriptions sound like it needs an oil change (noisy clacky) and lumpy starting sounds like dirty battery cables - clean them top and bottom. ??- When was last "healthy" tune up? Plugs, wires, all fluids & filters? I'd start there.

Noisey fans

Noisy fans are not dirty fans, they're simply noisy. There is nothing to clean.

On my bass amp head, the fan is very noisey

There is not much you can do to fix a noisy amp. If it has a buildup of dust and gunk on it, then cleaning it with a blowout of compressed air can help, but the best solution is to replace the fan. If you can give me some details of the fan, I can steer you to a place to get a replacement. Happy to help answer questions you may have about it.
