Question about Projection Televisions

4 Answers

I have a protron 32" tv and need a cable for the back for the slot that reads HDTV. I can't get my hd/dvr cable box to work right. My tv has gone into PIP mode and I can't get it to work right. I used a hdmi to dvi cable. I kept the white and yellow for audio. Is there a cable i can buy for that slot?

Simple jack (red and white). Back of tv has red and white jacks in ' AV in' and 'DVI in' (extension RGB)..TRY TIS..

Right, heres where your problem is I think, for the red and white input
sockets to work, the video signal has to be coming through the yellow
video input because these only work when they are used together. To
test if this is the case, use a video lead to connect a dvd player or
video player to the yellow input on the back of the tv, then connect
the audio jack from your computer to the red and white sockets next to
it, then change the input on your TV until the dvd player/video player
comes on screen, now play something using media player on ur laptop and
this should come through the tv speakers.

Hi,

Initially, the yellow is often a composite video and not audio (white and red). Pls post back the exact model number of the Protron and the Cable box.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Appreciate your postback.

Your basic concern cable to connect the DVI-D OUT of the Motorola HD/DVR to the DVI INput of the Protron PLTV-32, you would need a DVI cable available here, here or here for starters.

However, you need to determine exactly what type of DVI connector is on the Motorola and on the Protron. This page or here will give you a better idea. Thereafter, it would be a matter of purchasing said cable as above indicated.

    Hi again,

A temporary workaround would be to use the Component Video on both where in the connections would be with:

    • Y

    • Pb

    • Pr

    • L

    • R
    On your PIP concern:

    • PIP is only available when aspect ratio is Full;

    • The PIP button is bottom left (Selects the PIP mode: Off, Standard PIP, or PBP).
    Cheers.

Hooking up from hd receiver to hdtv ready projection tv. what cables do I use? vga or rca component red, blue, green and sync white/black? My hd receiver has output of :hdmi, rca component, s-video ,...

This particular television puts you in a tough bind - you can use Component cables in AV-1, but you won't be able to get HD. Or you can use the Component cables in the right-most component slot (AV-4), but since your HD Receiver probably doesn't have V/H Sync connectors, you may get a rolling picture. Try the component cables in the right-most slot - if the picture doesn't roll, you're in business.

Once again, I doubt that your model # is a 60pp9202, since that model doesn't have a VGA or DVI slot. If the picture rolls after trying the above, you will need to purchase a HDMI-to-DVI-D cable and hook it up from the HDMI output of your HD receiver to the DVI slot (that looks like a VGA slot) on the back of your Philips or Magnavox.

HDTV CABLE NOT HOOKED UP/WORKING

COMP 1 and 2 are for 480i/p sources. Hook it to the 1080i capable on the back. Also make sure the HD DVR is outputting 1080i not 720p. The Mits can not disply 720p and will show a scrambled screen if you try to.

I have video for my hdtv but no audio

I know it's been a while since you posted this, but perhaps this can help someone else. Check your cable box. I have Time Warner Cable with an HD-DVR. There is an option in the audio setup menu that will switch the audio from composite/digital to HDMI. I found this as I tested composite cables to fix a video issue with my TV, but lost audio when I switched back. Merely a setting issue. Hope this helps.

Turn off closed caption on input(component) on Sharp Aquos 42"

Had this happen on a Comcast box (Motorola DCT 6416 III)
Here's how to fix it:
Turn the cable box off, leave fully connected. Press Menu on the remote
The cable box internal menu will display (Not the Comcast one the Motorola one-- i.e. Display ratios-16:9 etc It's in black and white)
Use the arrows to cursor to the Closed Captioning and toggle to "Disabled" Press Manu again to exit and Voila!

Power the box on an have at it

Mitsubishi VS-60805 Rear Projection won't operate in HD mode with Cable Box

Since this is an older first generation (1999) HD TV it may not be compatible with newer HDTV receivers because the standards back then were different - Make sure the HD cable box is plugged into the HD component inputs on the back of the TV (not the DVD inputs) and that the menu setting on the TV is set to DTV (not RGB) video. This TV will only accept 480i and 480p signals on the DVD input. Also the HDTV input will only accept 480i,480p and 1080i (it will not work with a 720p signal, make sure your cable box is not set to that mode)
