Doesn't always power on

First my hp media center computer NEVER powers down correctly and whenever I try to turn it on I either get stuck on the first blue screen, or it turns on and works fine for about 5 minutes then freezes and I have to use the power button to restart it, or (and this is what usually happens) when I press the power button to turn it on it just beeps continually every second or so. the lights on the keyboard don't turn on and neither does the monitor. it's gotten to a point that I never turn off my computer any more.

the beeping is continual (it never ends) it just beeps about once a second. I haven't tried removing the RAM yet. I'll try that now and let you know how it goes.

The pc don't shut down correctly because of several reasons:

1. the ram had loosened.

2. the physical drive of the hard disk don't function correctly.

3.the os (operating system) might be corrupted.

but more importantly we should see every details

option1:remove the ram into its slot and clean the contact by rubbing an eraser on it and reinsert it the ram is a rectangle-shaped chip
option2:check if the hard drive is properly detected by looking at the startup screen (usually black screen)
and check the product name of the hard disk or simply check the Primary master (IDE1) if detected a hard drive

I shut down my computer the other day and now when I hit the power button the computer is completely dead and will not turn on

I would look on the back of the computer to see if the light for the power supply is illuminated. If not, try another cord. It is possible that the power supply has failed.

Hi turn off the computer and unplug the power cord for 2 minutes. Then replug it and start up the computer. That should solve it. If it doesn't then you have a software issue most likely a virus.

Hp media center power

hi friends, unpluug the power chord from the wall jack after that press and hold the power button in the front for about 15 seconds, connect the chord back in and try it. if it does the same then look at the rear side of the cpu box (where the power chord goes in and look for a small fan inside the power supply box, it has to be spinning). if not then the power supply (smps) has goen bad. now if the fan is sipnning try disconnecting all the extra periferals eg printer and stuff, still nogo then try opening the cpu box (reffer owners manual). take the RAM out and try to power up the system, if it starts beeping like beep ...beep... peeeep... then turn it off put the ram sticks back in and it should work fine...
NB:-for the owners manual check this out: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&product=470506&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN
