Question about Panasonic TH-50PV30 50 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

Intermittent turning itself off

I have had the set for 4+ years - until recently it was a great unit........BUT..... it now decides to turn itself off intermittently. When it does the remote won't work and it has to be restarted via the on/off switch on the tv. When it restarts it sometimes won't work and other times it does. On the back of the set there are 4 fans - the cover surrounding the one on the far left (when looking at the back) gets hotter than the others although it keeps working. Any advice would be appreciated.

Sounds like The main power supply regulator section circuit fault. Either it will be a separate board, or the part of main board. Check and replace damaged component/s at its main power regulator [SMPS] section circuit. Contact any service technician. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electro-medical.blogspot.com/
It will be best to replace the power supply regulator board as card basis rather than making "Surgery" to it; which usually will make loss for both money and time. Even though you can make it right, it will cost around an amount equal to the cost of a new board; including the cost of (spare parts + service charge) More to say, most of the spare parts to it will be difficult to get from open electronic spare part market. This is true to most of the flat panel TV power supply boards; irrespective of its brand and screen size.

I have pioneer plasma tv about 6 years old. I turned the power on, sound but no picture. Do you think it is worth fixing?

no
plasma tv units consume considerable power and the latest led units don't so for the extra cost of a new unit , there will be a power saving over the years

You missed the word demo, why repost?
On remote Press SMART (with house symbol)
go to
settings then
option then
mode setting then select
home use

(and, if you're feeling really brave, but it's not necessary to do this to remove demo mode
to return to initial settings
SMART
Settings
OPTION
Initial Setting
Deletes all optional settings and returns to initial default mode.
Once initialization is complete, the TV will turn off and on by itself.
If Lock System is activated, a pop-up password prompt will appear.
Do not turn off the power during initialization)

Would like to know the codes for a LG tv, Sony tv, and a TOSHIBA DVD ?

How to Program

Remotes With SET Button
1. Choose and press a device key i.e TV. LED will flash once.
2. Press "SET" Hold until the LED Lights up.
3. Enter the 4-digit Device code (refer code list).
4. The LED will flash once as each number is programmed at the end of the 4 digit the LED will turn off immediately if correct. If the LED flashes then something went wrong in the process. If the first code does not work then repeat the process with the next.
