Samsung LCD LE32C450E1W tv Vertical lines.

Samsung LCD LE32C450E1W tv. Main board BN94-03982B Power board CN07BN4400338ASE38Z8P1421. The set works fine on digital tv and on HDMI1. When analogue (off air) tv or HDMI2, 3, Av, or Component is selected vertical lines begin to appear on the left side of the screen and continue to spread to the middle and on to the full screen. The lines get narrower and after 15 minutes the picture looks with a white fog or haze across the screen. The lines have have thinned out and merged together to form a haze. The thin white lines then display a faint grid with a faint dot in the middle of each square on the grid. The picture can be seen behind the haze. When the set is put into standby for thirty seconds and restarted the lines are gone but begin to grow from the left again .

SOURCE: no picture on hdmi2

First of all connect the Direct TV box to HDMI 2 and see if it works there. If it does then the next step is to connect the DVD player to HDMI and see if it wors there. If not then connect the DVD player to the TV using the component inputs and if the DVD player works on those. If it does then maybe the HDMI interface in the DVD player no longer works as it needs to communicate with the TV.

SOURCE: Blue color spread over the pictures

This sounds classic to a thermo problem where a part(s) are becoming thermo sensitive with aga and use. When the set is cold and then warmed up, the defective part(s) is changing characteristics.

Some components became thermo sensitive that are driving the display. Or an embeded component in the display itself became thermo sensitive. It is very possible that the fault is on the board that does the X - Y addressing or on the backplane electronics of the display screen itself.

Using the set with defective components is a bad idea. If the part(s) fail completely and go shorted or opened, other more costly damage can be done.

The service rep for the manufacture of your set is equiped and trained to be able to troubleshoot and service your set.

You will have to take the set in to have it serviced.

SOURCE: RCA flat panel L42FHD37 When first

You can easily fix this audio problem by downloading a software upgrade for your HDTV. And you don't have to be a rocket scientist or a brain surgeon either ;)

If you need to find the software upgrade:

Go to RCA.com and click on Support, from there you will click technical support. In technical support, click on the link called Software Download. Scroll to the bottom of the page where you will find 2 links. The first link will tell you how to download the software to a Mini Cruzer USB drive (you need at least 15MB of space) and the second link is the software download itself.

Vertical lines

You will most likely need to have the set diagnosed. Vertical lines can be the result of a defective t-con board, faulty lcd panel/t-con connections, or a faulty panel itself. Do the lines stay or do they come and go? Older Samsung sets are known for faulty LCD panels!

Vertical white lines appear on the screen. Samsung provides the following information but doesn't say what circuitry they are referring to. Samsung says: DLP TV: I Have Vertical White Lines...

That answer I agree makes no sense.

Most of these sets have NO vertical hold and if did it will not cause the lines.

A brief educated guess:

Set has a main board that communicates and controls the screen--tests for that are not simple (checking waveforms with a scope and signal generator).

The model indicated here is a DLP that uses a lamp (let me know if model listed is not the one you have).

In DLP sets aside from main/digital board you also have a optical light engine---it processes all signal in and out to the screen.

Optical engines do fail and cause some simple and some complicated picture issues.

Some will even cause the set to "lock up" with a picture or strange looking screen---clue to this is you have to shut the set off by pulling the power cord.

The set may be old enough they do not really want to help you or even talk about it.

Hi = My LG5010 has developed vertical lines on the right hand side - if I move the screen backwards and forwards, the lines go away, but as soon the TV is switched off and on again, the lines come back. ...

The problem is most definately the LVDS cable that goes from the Main board to the Tcon board. The main board is the large one in the middle of the set and the t-con board is at the top- middle of the set. The connector is a long skinny plug with usually 20-25 pins. The connector can be unpluged (carefully) and cleaned with alcohol and a q-tip. There is NO VERTICAL Chip in any LCD or Plasma sets. Vertical circuits of that design have been gone since the inception of DLP, LCD and Plasma sets. The last analog set rolled off the line in 2005.

I have a 46" samsung lcd television that will power up but only displays vertical lines in a variation of colors

Hi,
Vertical colored lines usually means a bad panel. At the least it might be the t-conn pcb (a board connected to the panel). You might get lucky and just unplugging and replugging the LVDS cable (its a thin computer cable with lots of wires that goes from the main board (it has the audio and video plugs on it) to the t-conn board. You usually push in the clips on each side of the connector to release it. good luck! Panels cost more than the TV did.
