Question about Audiovox FPE1078 7.8 in. TV/DVD Combo

Receiving tv programs

I can only get channels 2 - 13 on the tv, even though I have cable tv. I've gone through the steps of being in the tv mode and pressing AUTO to search the channels automatically. Still, it will only go to channel 13. I've tried the up and down arrows and inputing a channel number, but nothing seems to be working. There is nothing else in the manual that addresses this problem. What do I need to do to remedy this?

Re: Receiving tv programs

I had the same problem, and finally pressed the TV/CATV button on my remote, and everything was back to normal.

Re: Receiving tv programs

In the menu theres a channel set up mode. You want to switch from antenna to cable mode, then do an auto search. Then all your cable channels will come in. Your going to need the original remote to go into the correct menu. good Luck

Where can I find a book on the different UVerse Remot tv codes for a new tv?

Universal remote code for Panasonic TV/VCR/DVD combo is

Direct Code Entry
  1. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  2. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  3. Enter the 4 digit code from the code tables. Note: after a valid code entry, the red indicator turns off. For an invalid code, the red indicator flashes.
  4. With your device on, press CHANNEL UP. If the device responds, no further programming is required. Note: If some buttons do not operate your device, try one of the other codes for your brand.
Code Search If after trying "Direct Code Entry" your device does not respond, or if your brand is not listed, try doing a search of the code library for your code by following these steps.
  1. Manually turn on the device (TV, VCR, etc.) to be controlled.
  2. Press and hold the SETUP button until the red indicator stays on, then release the SETUP button.
  3. Press and release the desired Mode button (TV, VCR, etc.). The red indicator blinks once, then stays on.
  4. Press the CHANNEL UP button repeatedly (up to 300 times) until the device to be controlled changes channel. The red indicator blinks, then stays lit.
  5. Press and release MUTE to install the code. The indicator light goes off.
Most users will want to store VCR codes under the VCR button, Cable codes under CBL, etc. If you want to store a VCR code under CBL, etc., first follow the procedure for Direct Code Entry and press CBL in step 2 of Direct Code Entry, then enter ANY VCR code in step 3 of Direct Code Entry. Then follow the steps above for Code Search.

Moved, no longer have cable and not getting any channels via attenna. Is it just bad reception or do I need a digital converter because of the change to digital stations?

Could be bad reception and or make sure the tv which was in the cable mode when you had cable now needs to be in air or antenna mode. IF you have another tv that works ok then you will know the channels just need to be reprogrammed for over the air signal. Go into the menu of tv and find program channels and switch to air or it might say antenna..

My remote no longer works and I can't get the menu to come up so that I can reprogram my channels and get all of my cable channels. Right now I only get basic cable channels, even though I have full...

You will have to disconnect the TV from the AC outlet for a few seconds(10-20) then reconnect the TV and press power. You should get the start up menu after you get a picture. What you have to do is use the vol up/dn , chnl up/dn keys to select the autoprogram setting after chosing from cable or antenna signal. the enter key should be one of the DVD keys either play or stop or some other key, you'll have to experiment a little with it. There is an owners manual available at in case you need it, but I am posting a brief description stated in the manual on how to do this. Chapter Summary: The STARTING SETUP function makes installing your TV/DVD easily...It leads you the Language selection, TV/CABLE selection and auto channel memory automatically...... Only goes up to Channel 19.

Go into the TV's setup screen and make sure its tuning mode is set for "cable" (may say "CATV"). I'm not familiar with this set so I don't know exactly what the screen will say, but there should be some reference to channel setup, TV setup, tuning band, etc. It's probably set on "AIR" now.

Normally, when set for off-air reception, the set works properly for channels 2 through 13, and 14 up don't tune properly. Since you're getting channels up to 19, there may in fact be some kind of tuner problem. If the TV is already set for cable tuning, you may have found why the former owner was freecycling it. But check that tuning mode.

The universal remote does not bring up the menu so I can program all the cable channels in it. I don't know what to do. It is only receiving non cable channels. Help me so I don't have to keep watching...

alot of universal remotes dont let you program your tv with them due to how much more mem they would need. you have to use your actual tv remote or do it manually with the tv. sorry
