Question about Bissell 3522 PowerForce Bagged Upright Vacuum

Open Question

How do I replace foot lever that keeps vacuum standing up

I have the part. It is the foot lever that is used to keep vacuum handle from falling to floor. I keep several spares, as I have found this to be one of Bissell's weak points. This part keeps breaking.

SOURCE: Bissell powerforce

I just got done fixing a unit with this problem. After a bit of time, dirt will build up in the lower unit and clog the vacumm tube. Symptoms: No air flow coming out of the vacuum. Motor is hot. Stuff is spitting out of the front Motor wouldnt start it had over heated. You should remover the roller and clear the clog by hand. Let the motor cool down and it should start once it had cooled down.

SOURCE: Bissell 3576 will no longer stand upright.

Try ordering replacement part from vacpartswarehouse.com. They have complete diagrams that can help to determine which part needs replacing - probably the latch release.

How can i get my upright kenmore vacuum cleaner to move to the vacuum position?

Don't know your brand vacuum but if I understand you correctly the solution should be pretty straight forward unless the lowering lever is broken somehow. Usually there is a foot lever on the left, or sometimes the right, toward the rear part of the base to push with your foot. Step on it while at the same time push it slightly forward first - just a quick 1" forward motion, then pull it toward you. That SHOULD disengage the handle to be able to vacuum freely.

Kirby heritage 2 handle wont stay in the upright posision keeps falling backwards

Two things; your bag may be too full and needs replaced. (it doesn't take much to make them top-heavy) or the pin at the back of the base of the handle is not extended.

Hoover model U6425-920 falls backward

It sounds like the handle release lever is bad if the unit will not stand up. It's common when those units get a little older. It is unlikely you'll need the rear handle assembly (the part with the filter housing) but it does happen. Inspect the latch on the handle assembly to make sure it's not too worn to know for sure. Chances are, the handle release lever is just spent.

As long as you're into it the belts and roller are always a great investment. Replacing them will make it clean like new again. I'll include the links for those parts as well.

The vacuum keeps falling over and won't stand upright. The vacuum won't **** from the bottom, only from the hose in the handle.

No Vacuum will work for more than a few weeks

How do you replace the drive/neutral lever (foot pedal) if it falls off? (The yellow and gray lever that you step on to put it into drive or neutral.) Not sure what happened but it just fell off. Now I...

The pedal assembly must be replaced,( part # 558401S), as it has a gear pressed to it which has come loose. The handle, switch plate, and upper motor cover must be removed first. To remove the plastic switch plate, remove it's screws and insert a flat screwdriver into the rectangular slot in it to pop it of. Four screws hold the motor cover in place. Next the switch button must be removed. The Techdrive assembly can be removed by removing the three screws on the bottom. Drop the drive down, and unhook it's belt from the gear on the end of the armature shaft. The pedal assembly can be removed by removing the remaining screw from the bottom of the drive unit. The N/D pedal has two parts - the pedal itself, and the shift cam. Observe carefully how these units fit together. After installing the new pedal and replacing the screw and washer to secure it, re-install the drive unit. The shift must be in the Drive position to install it, and replace the belt. Be sure to line up the arm on the drive unit so that it engages the slot at the base of the handle pivot and re-install the other items

This is not a difficult problem... I do not know

You do not specify the model, but usually it is a foot operated lever located at the base of the handle.

It does not stand up straight

the plastic locking mechanism to keep it upright is broken. It can be fixed, but not sure it is worth fixing. I know its a pain to lean it up against the wall all the time, but the cost for replacing the part is not worth the expense in my opinion. Good luck!

Filter Queen Powerhead Not Working

is it the part where the hose connects to the wand or is where the wand connects to the power head? and what side keeps falling out. it sounds to me that its either a hose or a wand issue. unfortunatly the cord itself cannot be replaced and if the problem is a worn out connector in the hose which is possible it would require a replacement hose and if it is on the wand end it would require a new wand. either are fairly cheep on ebay. or you can possibly find one used at a local vacuum dealer. dont buy new. save yourself some money if possible.

Dirt Devil upright vac

It could be a broken handle release, but it also could be the the clamps where the handle asm, and the base hold together came use, this will cause this problem on some Dirt Devils. The top has to come off to check this out.
