SOURCE: Replacing faulty regulator for hotplate

Remove hotplate and oven control knobs. Under the 2nd and 5th knobs is an extra screw which holds on the front cover. Unscrew these and free the cover then access is gained to the screws (2 on each edge) which removes the plate to which the regulators are fixed.Remove the faulty regulator by unscrewing it from the plate,(2 screws) It is an easy job then to install the new part taking care to put the correct wires on the correct terminals. Reassemble, job done!

SOURCE: hob regulator wiring

OK, they are wired so that the two elements are switched in and out, to form, a single, a dual but in series, and a dual, but in parallel. like this Low, ONE, Element ONLY, The Other is out of circuit. Med, TWO elements are connected using the switch, in SERIES with each other. High, you switch TWO elements in PARALLEL. Simply meter the switch out to do that when each position is turned. Just think of it like, It's just two resistors, wired up. single, series, & parallel.

What can I do about the hobs overheating - when on, they are only on the highest heat and can't be turned down.

THE only solution is to replace the regulators that control the hotplates.
Could prove to be expensive.

I have an old belling farmhouse cooker the hob works fine but the oven isn't igniting manually or by the electric ignition The timer is manual and is stuck on the red patch I can't seem to shift it ...

Take the tiny screws of there are loads down right hand side then release screws on hob once you can lift hob plates up. Undo the covers on back of timer clock control . Make sure you un plug from mains . Take the neutral of back of timer clock. This will allow your oven to auto ignite again

I have a Defy Gemini Petit Chef oven and glass hob combo. On e plate on the hob appears to heat up to maximum temp irrespective of the setting on the control. The other plates seem to be fine. Is there...

If it is a "Hot Plate" then the thermister is probably within the plate and replacement of the plate may be required.
Call a qualified appliance repair person for an estimate of the cost to repair.

My Belling E641 keeps tripping out. Now the trip

You evidently have an earth fault on the cooker i.e one of the heating elements has failed and the trip switch is operating to prevent you getting a shock.

Most likely it is one of the radiant rings that is at fault but it could also be an oven element.

There is no easy way to tell without checking with a multi-meter for earth continuity between each element and the cooker frame, you can do this with the power off and the meter set to resistance or continuity test.

There should be no reading between healthy elements and earth but a faulty element will normally show a reading when the probe touches the cooker frame.

Zanussi Ceramic hob ZKT641H front/main left zone does not heat up

can't give you much guidence - will be either regulator or the plate itself. no easy way to find out. you will have to remove the hob top and check for continuity thro the plate. ifplate is ok, then power up and check for supply to the plate. if no supply, then the regulator will be at fault
