Sounds like the LAN card is not enabled, or is missing the drivers. Check both Network Connections under Control Panel to enable by right clicking, and Device Manager for installing drivers.

I don't have internet access on my new X58A-GD45 motherboard. I just tested the ethernet cable and it successfully delivered internet to another computer in my house, so it's just this new...

- check if you have a link light on the NIC port
- also check if there is a network adapter driver installed under device manager
- then click start type run and type cmd
- under CMD, type ipconfig and check if you have a valid IP
ex. 192.168.1.1 not valid is the IP that start with 169

G31tm-p21 the lan controller wont detect at all. there is no device where a driver is required, and i did check to see if it is enabled in the bios.

The on board lan could have went bad. You can try disabling it in the bios and reboot, then look in device manager and at the top check "show hidden devices" and un-install the network card and the controller. Then reboot to the bios and enable it again and when you reboot windows should say that it has found new hardware and let windows try to install the drivers.
I have had that happen on a lot of computers lately. If it still does not work, I would install a separate network card in an empty slot.
Hope I was of some help ,Thanks for using Fixya

My ports and my on board LAN are not working my motherboard is ECS PV4MM2..What shoulbe the proble and how can I resolve it.Yahks if you would respond immediately on my problem

Go to Device manager By following this steps
  1. On the desktop right-click on My Computer and click Properties or open the Control Panel and double-click the System icon.
  2. In the System Properties window click the Hardware tab.
  3. In the Hardware tab click the Device Manager button.
Then on left side Search for Yellow question mark on Ethernet controller if it occurs than the problem is that you have to reinstall your LAN drivers which can be Downloaded here
And If there is no Yellow Question Mark then you have to bring a LAN card and insert in PCI Express Slot.

Lan terminal not working

first check for all the drivers in the device manager.... if every thing is perfect in driver side, then check if the ethernet/ lan is enabled....
then check is the light in the ethernet adapter is lit, when you plug any ethenet cable in it... still if it is not working, then finally try to update the latest driver for the ethernet controller.... if nothing works, then buy an pci ethernet card and use it..... you can also buy external cards like usb to ethernet converter... even belkin manufactures usb to ethernet controller....

How to enable GA-EP43-UD3L motherboard wake on lan?

Most modern ATX motherboards should have a 3-pin Wake-on-LAN connector near the PCI slots and should included BIOS support for Wake-on-LAN power up,check the Power Management Setup for this option.
As i check in your motherboard manual there is not pin but it supports wake on lan so go to bios and enable power on ring in power managment,it should be enable by default.Next right click on your computer, then properties, then device manager(OR YOU CAN SIMPLY GO TO START->RUN AND TYPE devmgmt.msc and hit enter). Then find the network adapters, click on it,and click on your ethernet controller(it should be realtek, gigabyte something like that) and the go to advance and scroll(search) for "wake up on lan" "wake up capabilities" and make sure that is on or enabled AND YOUR DONE:)

How can i connect a toshiba runniung windows me. to the internet via ethernet cable? is it possible with just the cable and no card? is there a programe i can download to help my laptop? what can i do?

Hi,
It should have a LAN (network card) built in to the laptop.
First of all make sure you have the LAN (network drivers) installed. You can do this by checking in device manager.
To open device manager click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
Double-click the System icon. Click the Device Manager tab and look in the list for network adapters/controllers.

If the driver is installed you should be able to directly connect the ethernet cable to your laptop.

I'm not quite sure where the ethernet port is on that particular laptop but it will be on the back or sides of the unit and it will be the only port the ethernet cable fits into.

From there you should be good to go, if you can't get a connection reset the modem by removing power from it for 2 minutes, connect the power again, wait another 2 minutes for the device to settle and try the internet connection again.

Regards.
