It may not be possible to access some features without one; this is quite common.
This site seems to have the broadest offering and, unfortunately, the highest prices:

Connecting a turntable?

If you have a Phono input it will provide the additional amplification needed for the ceramic cartridge, and perhaps even more amplification for a magnetic cartridge, made available by a switch. It also has extra bass boost to counteract the lack of bass in the recording, done so as to keep the grooves from making use of lots of platter real estate. By minimizing the bass, the recording time is increased.

If you don't have a Phono input, but you have an aux input, you may have to crank the volume and the bass to get reasonable sound, because the phonograph cartridge doesn't produce much output as compared to "line-level" devices such as a line-out on a tape deck.

Awm 660 bass

Does the manual list the part number of the remote? If it does you can search for a replacement on-line. If you are from the UK Curry's Partmaster has a good range of Sanyo remotes.

Turn off dbfb without remote for sony md373

Sad, but true: without a remote it won't work. Had the same problem. Logetech Harmony 300 solved it in my case for a hcd ed1a. You can choose any sony device with a dfbf function. strangely for my modell logitech didn'nt support the bass boost function. so i searched for another version and found str-d511. with this device everything worked fine and i was able to switch the dbfb function off. you have to ad the bass boost function button manually. logitech harmony calls it bass boost, instead of sony dbfb. than ad this button to your device and you should be able to turn dbfb off.

Cd drawer won't open

Most CD drawers have a small round hole where you can insert a thin paperclip to open it in case the mechanism fails. Example: http://img84.imageshack.us/f/panasoniccr507bzq1.jpg/

Does yours have a hole like that?

Hi, do you know if you can adjust the bass on a Sharp xl-hp505 micro component system (other than the preset settings)? I find the bass too loud. Thank you so much.

The manual mentions a couple of things that could account for excess bass, one being the Extra Bass button (X-Bass indicated on front); the other being the ROCK setting, which boosts bass.

Placement of the speakers relative to the room surfaces and the listening position can affect their perceived bass response. Experiment. Corners and close wall reinforce the bass, moving the speakers out from them would lessen it.

Bass

greetings. Unless the unit has a bass volume control on the sub itself the only way to lower the bass settings is through the built in eq and or dsgx settings (similar to a bass boost)
