Clearing Password Check Hardware Open Gap DescriptionHW Gap position on M/B space: Gap name in TravelMate 5530/5230 Series is G77 Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check If users set BIOS Password (Supervisor Password and/or User Password) for a security reason, BIOS will askthe password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it isnecessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by thefollowing steps: • Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine. • Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture. • Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap. • Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on thesystem till BIOS POST finish. short the battery hold a piece of wire on to the positive and the other on the negative for about 10 seconds this should short the battery it does no damage to any thing else.

To reset the bios in an acer 5100 you need to remove your DDR2 memory sticks, below you can see "j2", make contact in this jumper turn on your laptop and your bios would be reset

Press the total reset(yellow) key - 1 -0 - 7 and press and hold down he stop ((red) key for more 3 sec.Enter in the SP mode(activate to press on the touch pane) open the front door turn OFF the power main switch,unplugged the machine amd wait 10 sec.Plugged the machine,closed the front door and turn ON the power switch.The copier is worked.If neccessary to check and measurement the continuity of the fusing unit parts:heater lamps,thermofuses,thermoswitch and if cleaning used the izopropilalkohol.

go into the bois and set the password off, restat the pc press delete or f2 yust read what they ask you, what happend is you cmos battery went low so it reseted the default cmos settings, replace the battery if you have to, it will work

Go here and download the Service Guide for that unit. Then go to Page 116 (in Chapter 5) for instructions regarding clearing of the BIOS Password, or to Page 40 (in Chapter 2) for instruction on clearing the HDD Password.

There is only one way to clear cmos (BIOS) passwords and I'll show you the procedure.....

Steps for Clearing BIOS Password Check

If users set BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and/or User Password ) for a security reason, BIOS will
ask the password during systems POST or when systems enter to BIOS Setup menu. However, once it is
necessary to bypass the password check, users need to short the HW Gap to clear the password by the
following steps:

q Power Off a system, and remove HDD, AC and Battery from the machine.

q Open the back cover of the machine, and find out the HW Gap on M/B as picture.

q Use an electric conductivity tool to short the two points of the HW Gap.

q Plug in AC, keep the short condition on the HW Gap, and press Power Button to power on the
system till BIOS POST finish. Then remove the tool from the HW Gap.

q Restart system. Press F2 key to enter BIOS Setup menu.

q If there is no Password request, BIOS Password is cleared. Otherwise, please follow the steps and
try again.

NOTE: The steps are only for clearing BIOS Password ( Supervisor Password and User Password ).

Below is the picture showing the location of the jumper next to the memory module slots. This is the jumper connections that have to be "shorted".

My acer aspire one crashed and i need help


Below are the steps for the resetting of the password. Below the steps is the link for the service manual. On page 113 is the picture of the jumper pads that need to be "shorted" to reset the cmos.

Default password of bios


There is no "default password" - if a BIOS password is set, you'll have to clear it manually. Here is a link to the Intel supported way of clearing the BIOS passwords on a desktop board. Good luck!
