You probably need to go into the Bois settings and disable the on board graphics. To do this you will need to start by being plugged into the on board graphics and have the GeForce card plugged in. Turn the computer on and during the HP splash screen, you sill see some options. I believe the setup option is F10. You will need to press this key to enter the setup. You will now need to locate the video options and set the source to the PCI-E. This will disable the onboard and enable the GeForce card. Once you save this setting and reboot you will need to move your monitor cable from the onboard card to the new card and finish the installation in windows.

Hope this helps

When you do an install of Windows XP to 8 the system restarts automatically to run some of the programs in resident memory. I would suggest that you try a new install of your OS, If you are running a clocked CPU you should unclock it to remove that from the list of possible causes. The problem may also be a symptom of some upgrades to Windows not having been installed. The most common faults with this type of symptom is the lack of the Dot.Net upgrades from Microsoft the minimum needed is version 2 but the version level is currently at Version4. If you are still having the Kernel power problems you mat have a failed motherboard or more likely a dodgy psu. When you spend that sort of money on a MOBO and CPU/Graphics package you need to get a good (named ) PSU preferably at least a "Bronze" certified item.

Graphic card problem

Sure you can upgrade and put a new graphics card in one of the pci slots.

Try Tiger Direct for graphics cards at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just put in Video Graphics Card in the search box and press GO. You can sort the list Price Low to High.

I want to purchase nvidia professional card suggest me compatible graphic card for my intel dg35ec motherboard.

Nvidia Geforce GTX 560 is a very good choice but could be on the edge for the power-supply so to be sure spend some on a better power-supply!

While playing wow my screen froze up and now there's lines on my screen....it is not overclocked...is this something that I can fix or do I need to send it back to company

STRIPED SCREEN OF DEATH
Before it freezes it starts to pixel like crazy then it freezes with a striped screen,

Possible Reasons & Fixes:

* Review your Direct X services:
  1. Click Start, then click Run.
  2. In the Open box, type dxdiag, then click OK. 3. This will run the DirectX diagnosis tool.

Failing that check whether there may be a conflict with any of your devices by clicking on your control panel and checking for any exclamation marks against devices.

* Try upgrading the RAM, which is likely to be the cause for issue if everything shows normal in Dxdiag settings. [Note: High graphics games is likely to lead to overheating GPU]

* If you are new to this issue, try System Restore.

* Try clearing the temp files/cache/history

* Power supply need to be more than 500kv, cooling fans play a pivotal role
[Overheating : CPU or the GPU]

* Change your Screen Refresh Rate

Other Suggestions:
1.Download and Install the Latest VGA Driver Update
2.DirectX 9.0c Reinstall
3. Buy a New Power Supply
4. Buy a New Fan for Your Proccesor and Check Your VGA Drive Fan Also Clean up the whole CPU

if the power supply has the 6 pin connector to plug into the video card, you should have no problem using this card with your current setup..
i currently use a GeForce 9800GTX+ with about the same pc as you have using a 600w power supply and no issues what so ever, generally the video card power supply requirements will be stated on the side, but i'm pretty but it requires a 450w or 500w, so you should be fine.

How to make the inbuilt graphics card work for games for intel915

Frankly,

Not much you can do to improve that graphics adapter, but it can be removed and upgraded as well they only shipped with 512MB DDR 3200 RAM, I would recommend two things to improve performace. First Add at minimum a 256MB PCI-E video card. Second upgrade the RAM to at least 1GB prefferably more (4GB Max)

This will make a great difference as the video card installed from the factory only had 64MB of RAM.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

"Call of Duty" runs in slow motion on my PC.

Hi thomas,

Upgrading video cards will definitely increase in performance. You asked whether you should upgrade your entire PC or just the card and that really depends on the hardware you are running. If all of your hardware just barely meets the requirements than upgrading the videocard WILL give you a noticeable improvement but obviously it will not be as good as getting a better CPU and more RAM as well as a new card.

A good measure of a cards performance is based on the series of cards it is from. Your Geforce is from the 6000 series of Nvidia cards, they have 7000, 8000, and even 9000 series cards atm.

I would recommend something like an XFX Geforce 9800 GTX+ series card with 512MB of onboard memory, or any other competing card in the 200$ price range. This will definitely give you an increase in performance, and is a very popular card.

Hope this helps and please take a second to rate!
