Question Problems with DIMM slots !!!

My Laptop is MSI ms-1671(X630X). I have two blocks of RAM memory, but in the bios I can see only one. I tested the blocks on other notebook and it works perfect. I cleaned DIMM slots but nothing. The notebook is loading very, very slowly. I was searching how to clear coms or remove bios battery but I couldn't find it. Any suggestion? Thank you in advance !!!

Hello
Try installing the memory on one memory slot at a time to make sure that both memory slots are working ,try one memory by itself and then the other one.
If you install both at the same time example 2x 2gb ram and bios only sees 2gb and not 4gb then it's problem with one of memory slots and motherboard must be repaired.
You can try bios update:

I want tobuy 1gb memory card for my ms 6787 ver2.. what is the specific type of memory card is the best for my board (1gb or 512mb only)

For this particular motherboard, you need a 184-pin DDR SDRAM DDR 266 (PC 2100) memory module. These can be found in sizes ranging from 256MB to 1GB. There are several places that these could be found on the internet. Pricing for a 1GB module seems to be around $44 or $45 USD currently.

The MS-6787 supports a maximum of 2GB of RAM (1GB in each DIMM slot).

Hope this is helpful!

Sd ram 256MB -does not read more than 128 MB per slot

I checked the specs of this motherboard at the following link:
http://www.msi.com/index.php?func=proddesc&maincat_no=1&prod_no=340

The specs says the following:
• Supports four 168-pin unbuffered DIMM using eight memory banks.
• Supports a maximum memory size of 348MB (8Mx8) or 768MB (16Mx4) registered DIMM
only
• Support ECC (1-bit Error Code Correct) function
• Supports 3.3v PC100 SDRAM DIMM.

According to this, the only memory DIMMs guaranteed to work on your motherboard are the 3.3v PC100 SDRAM DIMMs.

However, it seems that your problem lies within the density of the memory module. It looks like the motherboard was made when 256MB sticks weren't very common yet, so there could just be some compatibility issues.
I believe that the motherboard only supports 128MB per side. The RAM you bought probably has memory chips only on one side. Check your new stick. If it only has memory chips on the one side (small black squares) then the only thing you can do is take it back and look for a double-sided stick of 256MB. Even then, it may or may not work with your motherboard.

Install DDR-DIMM PC3200 to MS-6367 MSI

That motherboard was made for PC2100 DDR266. A PC3200 DIMM *SHOULD* be backward compatible. Depending on the density of the PC3200 memory you might have problems. If you have not bought the memory yet I would go with the PC2100 for sure since the PC3200 will give you no speed gains at all and will be running at PC2100 speeds anyway.

If you already have the PC3200 memory then I would say just give it a shot. The worse case scenario is your machine will not boot up with the higher speed ram installed. Assuming you take all the normal hardware upgrade care and do not physically break anything you can test this memory with no harm to your motherboard.

Dell Latitude CPx H500GT fails when using 2x256 Mb memory in bay

If the laptop is in warranty, then dell will take care of it. Also, are the two ram sticks the same speed? mixing ram can be bad. also, goldmemory software is excellent for ram testing.
lastly, if there is a bios version that allows you to use both ram slots, use that bios. a newer bios is not always better.

Whether supports DDR?

Hi valentin122, you're board does not support PC2700 memory.
The link below will take you to you're board,
MSI 845 UltraC (MS 6566). Suggest you add to you're favorites.
http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=845_Ultra-C

There is not a bios upgrade to support PC2700 memory.
Bios link.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloaddetail&type=bios&maincat_no=1&prod_no=295

You're manual is here.
http://global.msi.com.tw/index.php?func=downloadfile&dno=3466&type=manual

See page 2-5 in you're manual.
The mainboard provides 2 slots for 184-pin, 2.5V unbuffered DDR DIMM with 4 memory banks. You can install PC1600/PC2100 DDR SDRAM modules on the DDR DIMM slots (DDR 1~2).
To operate properly, at least one DIMM must be installed.
Here is a link for you're memory. To reach you max GB, you would need 2 DIMMS.
