Question about Panasonic VIERA Televison & Video

1 Answer

Vertical Band has appeared on my TH-42PX60B

I have developed a vertical band approx 2" wide down my screen It is approx 2/3 of the way across and goes from top to bottom. It is a dark grey band and is permanently there. Can anyone advise me if this is repairable - or do I need a new panel (which basically means it is landfill!)

Thanks for taking the time to reply, but I know from experience this cannot produce this symptom (let alone the fact the band is there on all inputs and on internally generated images - eg menu)

HI
Before getting a new tv set I would try all cables and contacts, as well as looking in the troubleshooting section in the manual.

SOURCE: black band running from top to bottom of screen

this will need to go into the shop to get one of the video processing boards replaced that controls that part of the screen , this will happen when it gets to hot inside the set ,( thermal break down)

Panasonic TC-P42S2 .. Transparent 2 inch wide vertical discoloration on panasonic 42 inch plasma, very left of the screen.

Fixed mine, myself! Black 3 inch vertical band (stripe) appeared after a cros country move on our PC-T50G10. Occasionally we would see white band with multicolored pixel width stripes. Took the risk of taking off the back to see if I could see anything. Found places on sides and bottoms where plastic like 2" flat cables could be seen. Guesstimated where the band was and found that I could flip down a black cover on one end of the cable. Tried to pull it, gently. Mistake. Realized it wouldn't one out like computer hard drive cables, so I took out the screws holding the plate on the other end (it's only an inch long). That allowed me remove the cable. Took it out, cleared away dust, put t back and closed the black over. It worked! Put the screws back in, back on and... we are happy (although I do have four extra screws!). Just be gentle.

The band is developing across both the top and bottom of the screen it is called cinemascope picture. it is a vertical failure. it is not a major problem. it is on you accrding to cost of repair. it is due to less supply or part failure in vertical section.
