Imed 1402 wont boot up

Computer turns on with blue light illuminated on on/off switch, monitor light flashing as in stand by and computer is making a noise as if trying to load but on a loop, fan is on except nothing else works. Have tried unplugging and pressing switch for 10 seconds, have tried pressing f11 on startup but nothing works.

Thanks. I'm not really familiar with computer components but gave it a try. I did get some feedback from the computer when I removed one of the memory sticks but this was only short lived. Kinda gave up with this computer as it was a freebie and nearly 7-8 years old I've decided to replace it. Thanks again for your help.

I read once that the expression goes: "When at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then give up. No use being a fool about it!"

Your computer is not completely booting (it's failing the POST).
You need to identify the problem by disconnecting everything but the CPU, video, and memory. See if you get something displayed on the screen. If not, there is a good chance the problem is in the video card. Just to be sure, if you have 2 sticks of memory, take one out and try a boot. Then swap sticks.
The monitor is blinking yellow because it's not getting a video signal.

Definitely it is not your computer. When it was given the signal to go OFF, it did but like completely off.

Comment by ohms, posted on Jun 19, 2008Oh one more thing, if the monitor still exhibits same issue after setting your Power Options as displayed above,

check your warranty with that monitor and exercise it.

Yep u got it ! warranty or new monitor

Packard Bell Imedia 1402 wont boot up

you did not install the new Hdd properly, the part of the ribbon cable with colour should be by the side of the power connector and the power connector should be connected with the red cble by the side of the colour on the ribbon cable.

Flashing on and off

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
