Oven will ignite but want rare up

Depending on what model stove you have on what it uses for ignition.
Most likely a glow bar type .
even though it glows it still can be bad.
glow type needs to draw the right amps for the safety valve to open if not the right amp draw valve will not open.
that's why its called a safety Valve no glow no lite.
Change the glow ignition other then that send us the model # off your range and we can get you exact price quote on parts you need
Have a great day

Fridgiaire range model XFGF3005LWB

the glow plug may be working as in its glowing, but even so they can seem to be working, but if they are weak they can appear o.k. but wont pass enough current to completely open the gas valve and keep it fully open, thats why it sometimes wont light or if they do the flame is wavering or small and you smell gas, just replace the glow plug

I have a Maytag Performa gas stove, the burners work fine, but the oven wont come on at all, the ignitors glow, but it doesn't seem to be getting any gas??

just because the ignitor is glowing doesn't mean it still isn't bad.you need an amp meter with a clamp on it,stick one of the wires into the clamp,if it's a flat ignitor it should read 3.2 amps,if it's round i believe it's 2.5 amps.if it doesn't get the correct amps it won't let the gas into the burner tube.you say the ignitors glow,do you mean the broil doesn't work also?if so you could have a bad gas valve or the clock could be bad, there's a computer board in the clock assy.on some of the machines.next time send the model number, open the bottom draw and you should see a tag with the model and serial number on the frame that the draw covers when it's closed.check this site out it should help you...... Oven takes too long to heat up sometimes wont even go to the temperature ignitor is working well can see the glow magic chef model 3488vvv serial 13368882kz

Hello there:
Hi,

When you turn the oven on, open the oven door and look down at the bottom and see if its glowing red, it should glow red for about 45-60 seconds then you should hear the gas ignite. If the gas doesn't ignite, then your igniter glow bar is bad.

Here's the oven glow bar igniter for your model:

Older Maytag built in oven. starts and reaches desired temp, sometimes. Other times it never lites. electric igniter always reaches a glow

Even if the igniter glows... that doesn"t mean the ignitor is good. The igniter is wired in series with the oven bi-metal valve. Many times the ignitor will not allow the correct current to the oven valve for it to open... even though it is glowing. I would recommend replacing the ignitor first, you should be able to find one for under 40 dollars.

Oven will not light. it is a frigidaire model #

When the bake igniter becomes weak or burns out, your oven will not bake. The bake igniter is usually mounted on the oven burner. It's about 1 inch by 4-8 inches (depending on the model), and comes in round or flat styles. If you don't see the igniter glow at all, it's probably burned out. Replace the igniter if found defective. Note: one of the exceptions could be that your oven is set to automatic mode instead of manual. If this is the case, set your oven to manual mode and check again.

If the bake igniter glows red and not bright yellow or white, it is probably because it is too weak. When this happens, the safety valve will not let the gas out into the oven burner. A weak igniter must be replaced.

A faulty igniter is probably the most common cause, however there are others:

  1. Defective thermostat
  2. Defective selector switch
  3. Defective gas safety valve
  4. Defective gas valve coils

Frididaire gas oven won't light

Does the cooktop burners work? if they do then the problem is either the safety valve or the glow plug (even though it glows). Try tapping the safety valve. If the oven lights up change the glow plug.Otherwise change the safety valve

Kenmore Oven not working

Remove the bottom panel from inside the stove. Turn on the stove and see if the igniter glows bright red. If not glowing, replace the igniter. In some cases, even if the igniter is glowing, the resistance may not be low enough to turn on the gas valve. In either case the igniter has probably gone bad. ($50.00 to $90.00 for igniter)
