Question about EliteGroup ECS A880GM-M7 (V2.0) AM3 AMD 880G Micro ATX AMD Motherboard

No VGA signal on new ECS A880GM-M7

New build. Got the ECS A880GM-M7 and AMD Athlon II S3 455 Rana 3.3GHz AM3 (bundled together at NewEgg). Got suggested memory, new power, new HDD, new case. All hooked up, no signal to VGA monitor. I tried all the basic stuff: reseated memory, checked all cables, fans all working (including CPU fan). I suspect this motherboard is DOA. Anyone have suggestions/thoughts?

Thanks, Brian. I did check all connections. I re-seated the memory sticks and the CPU. Still no video signal out. I've decided to send the board back to NewEgg for an exchange. Hopefully, I'll get a good one on the second try. I understand that getting a DOA motherboard (or any other component, for that matter) is to be expected now and then.... just part of the game. But now I'll have to redo the thermal grease on the new CPU... wasn't counting on having to do that :( Thanks for your help and advise. I'll repost here when the new board comes and give an update.

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have secure dust free connections and are not faulty or just replace them they might be faulty

make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd 3 1/2 inch floppy have secure connections and are not faulty even the electical extensions

even something as small as an electrical fan and its lead can cause you problems or just replace them they could be faulty a computer needs all electrical power and data to continue through every working device and to have an end so any faulty leads will end up with a computer error

make sure your graphics card is securely seated with no dust built up or in the socket

if you remove your graphics check the socket to make sure its dust free

restart your computer then reinstall it this should activate found new hardware wizard

hope this helps you

Is the Am3+ socket also possible for sapphire AM3RS890G2?

am3+ socket is what the socket is listed on the motherboard, so if you have a CPU that fits only AM3+, the CPU wont fit it unless directed by the CPU manufacture seeing that AM3+ is for AMD processors only if you have a older AM3 CPU it might fit the AM3+ motherboard if listed, this paticular model only lists AM3 and fits Sempron, Phenom II X3, Athlon II X2, Phenom II X2, Athlon II X4, Athlon II X3, Phenom II X4, Phenom II X6

How do I install window 7 64 bit on my ECS A880GM-M7 Motherboard?

Well checking on the ECS website reed the manual and there is no special settings to be changed regards processor functionality on 32/64 bit, that happened to me several months ago and seems that sometimes when the dvd disc is scratched files can get corrupted ending up in a failure installation, what I can recommend you is try with a different windows 7 disc. because seems that with that one will not work. Hope this info helps you, for your reference HERE is the manual.

What is the best quad core for ax3400g-u4802

The best quad core for that computer would be the AMD Phenom II X4 980 Black Edition. It will fit in your computer's AM3 socket, and is outrageously fast. It will cost a pretty penny though, almost $200.

Amd athlon ii x3 450 best compitible mother board

asus makes the Best mainboards in my opinion, All AM3 boards. You get what you pay for so it's worth spending a bit more to get a good mainboard.

Example: ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is a really good option, however I myself would pair this mainboard with a AMD Phenom 2. Though your X3 450 will work well in this mainboard too.
The best compatible mainboard would be the ASUS Crosshair IV Formula or Extreme edtion, however your CPU will be a bottle neck in the system.
The ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 is really good looking and it performs really well too.

You could go for an ASUS 785/790/870/880/890 North Bridge chipset AM3 Socket.
You could even purchase an AM3+ mainboard that will support AMD's new Phenom module CPU's.
Go to www.asus.com and check out the AMD mainboard range that they produce.

Take care!

What motherboard will replace a msi k7t turbo2?

This is an obsolete part; as such, you will have a hard time finding it at any retailer, whether brick and mortar or online. However, all hope is not lost-try E-bay

http://computers.shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=socket+a&_sacat=1244&_trksid=m270&_dmpt=Motherboards&_odkw=&_osacat=1244

You will have to look for a board that supports S-Dram memory, because that is what your MSI K7T Turbo2 uses.

My advice would be to skip this entirely; I would replace the whole board/CPU setup, and pick up some memory. You can get an Athlon II quad core and mobo for $165.98 USD (Asus /AMD). Pick up 2 GB of Kingston DDR3 RAM for $56

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820134790

and you essentially have a whole new system for $222

Just my opinion on this-I don't think that spending the amount of cash you would have to in order to replace an obsolete board is worth it.

You might try this, instead:
AMD Athlon II x2 Regor (2.8 Ghz, dual core) @ 56.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103688

ASRock M3A770DE AM3 AMD 770 ATX AMD mobo @ 59.99

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820148305

Total $174.97 + shipping USD

Given you 3 ways to go and my advice-good luck!!

Crucial 2 GB Ballistix 240 pin DDR3 1600 Memory for $57.99
