Question about Brother HL 5250DN Laser Printer
I've had the Brother HL 5250DN for about a month, and about 3 days ago it stopped printing. I noticed that the status light was red and went through the troubleshooting - opening and shutting doors etc, with no success. Then I noticed that my PC was detecting the printer as a new hardware device (at first I'd thought the notice was for my wife's flash drive and hadn't thought much of it.) So, eventually I realize that the PC can't see my printer anymore, and it is detecting a device called "BrotherBR_DEVELOP" So I delete the printer driver and reinstall from the original driver disk - but although the reintall appears to proceed normally, the driver does not actually show up in the printer listing when the install is complete. So then I go directly to the brother download site, get the 5250dn driver (which doesn't appear to have been updated recently) and install it using the "Add new printer" command and pointing to the unzipped temporary Brother driver directory. This does install the new driver, but to no avail - the status light is still red, and it doesn't print - not even a test page. And when I reboot the PC or power cycle the printer, the "found new hardware" balloon pops up again. I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks.
I had this exact same problem
I just had mine repaired at an authorized Brother service center...It was the "Main PCB Assy". or the "main board. Total cost with tax....$100.
I'll try another brand before I buy Brother again.

All lights on , you need to press the go and cancel buttons at the same time and see which lights are on, I'm sorry, I confused this model with another...you need to press both buttons to see which lights are on when both go and cancel are held. It sounds though like a main logic PCB problem, let me know what lights are on when you hold both buttons, there is no error that matches what you said earlier, but I told you the wrong buttons...
