I tried to remove the cover on my Acer Aspire T180, without success. There is, what appears to be, a sort of "handle" at the back, but I could not budge the cover. I tried very diligently (and somewhat gently, to avoid damage), but no luck. I tried prying with a screwdriver. I tried pressing and pushing at various points on the cover. The cover acted as if I had not removed all the screws...I found 4 silver-colored and 2 larger black screws, and removed them all. There must be a trick to removal of the cover, but my manual (user's guide) does not mention removal of the cover. I have searched on line for a more detailed manual, with no success. I have removed covers on many computers, some easy, some difficult, but always with success, until now.

If you have removed all the screws, it may be that you just need to slide the cover backwards to release the locking flaps. Try pushing the cover in several directions to see if it disengages something.

Does the acer aspire 5315 2077 require a certain type of memory?

Go to www.crucial.com and click on the scan my system button to see what configuration of Memory Modules are installed on your laptop.

Here are some other details:

Each memory slot can hold DDR2 PC2-5300 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.
Chipset: Intel 960GML
Drive Form Factor: 2.5"
Drive Interface: SATA
Maximum Memory: 2048MB
Slots: 2 (2 banks of 1)
Standard Memory: 512MB removable
USB Support: 2.x Compliant

Q: What memory goes into my computer, and will a faster speed be backward-compatible?
A: DDR2 memory with support for DDR2 PC2-5300 speeds.

Q: How much memory can my computer handle?
A: 2048MB.

Adding the maximum amount of memory will improve performance and help extend the useful life of your system as you run increasingly demanding software applications in the future.

Q: Do I have to install matching pairs?
A: No.

No, you can install modules one at a time, and you can mix different densities of modules in your computer. But if your computer supports dual-channel memory configurations, you should install in identical pairs (preferably in kits) for optimal performance.

Q: Does my computer support dual-channel memory?
A: Yes.

Memory Upgrade

I believe the max you can go with per slot is 1gb.

This is copied from the Acer site:

Up to 4 GB of DDR2 533/667/800 MHz SDRAM

Upgrade problems

Your system comes stock with one stick of DDR2 (512 MB), which means that it is _ not_ dual channel DDR2 memory as dual channel DDR2 must be installed in matched pairs. Try to exchange the new memory for 2G of some single channel DDR2.

I need Acer g710 Ram

If you need Ram, you need to contact your server manufacturer to find a product number for your server and memory model/size.
You can add up 16GB of RAM DDR2.
Many manufacturers also provide compatible memory like Transcend or Kingmax.

Can i help you with anything else ?

Acer Aspire T-180 Memory Upgrade question

Hello, You might be able to add 2GB more. 1GB per slot. You need to get the model # off your motherboard and verify what the maximum amount of memory it will support. 1GB per slot would be 4GB total but some Operating systems will only support 3GB. So some might be wasted if that is the case. You would need to use the same memory type. So if existing is PC2-4300, use the same. Hope this helps.
