SOURCE: Karcher G3050OH Pressure Washer Spill / Unloader Valve (Bypass)

You should put 'locktite' on the male thread and screw it in all the way and lock it there. That is how it works ,the spring keeps the valve at the bottom closed during high pressure operation. When the gun is released the part with the o-ring is forced down resulting in the valve opening and then the pressure is by-passed.Those dont normally give trouble. Look for a blocked nozzle or a restriction somewhere in your high pressure hose.

SOURCE: clean and unloader valve on Karcher hd3500

Hi:
Cleaning it is not enough. You need to make sure the o-rings are in good shape and grease it with a very very good waterproof grease. Here is a schematic of the pump. The unloader is parts 7 to 13 on D-2

I think your main problem is that the unloader valve needs to be lubricated. Use the very best water resistant bearing grease you can find. If you can e-mail me a pic of your unloader assembly I can try to explain how to set it up. firehead@roges.com

On my brute 2500 psi pressure washer when I let go of the trigger it kills the motor. I changed the unloader valve and still does it . Any suggestions? Thanks

Excessive pressure can stall out a motor. Try reducing by adjusting unloader valve. Clockwise turn will increase pressure, counter clockwise turn will reduce.

How to adjust the unloader valve.

With a pressure gauge. If it's a home duty model it can usually be turned all the way in without damaging anything. Try turning it all the way in and fire it up. If the engine/motor doesn't groan or stop, you're probably okay. If the unit stops or slows down when gun is closed, immediately open gun, then shut down. With unit off, back off on unloader setting and set with pressure gauge, or have it done by a professional.

My Honda pressure washer wil not run when the wand trigger is released. It builds pressure and cuts off. What will cause this?

it's a faulty unloader valve have it replaced depending what type of unloader or you may have it adjusted too tight make sure the large spring has a gap between the coils for it to drop down and unload.

What is a bypass unloader

According to epowerwash.com:
"The unloader valve diverts water flow into bypass when the trigger gun valve is closed. Unloaders may be designed to respond to either an increase in pressure or a change in flow. The unloader valve may also be used for variable pressure adjustment."

My Generac pressure washer will work great for as long as I hold the trigger. If I release the trigger to move something or change positions and then pull the trigger again the pressure doesn't come...

Sounds like the unloader valve built-in to your system is sticky. Try lowering the pressure of the regulator to lowest setting then re-adjusting. This will place a different pressure /load on the valve. Also when you store your unit, displace the water in the pump with oil so that lubricant will prevent the unloader from sticking. If you continue to have problem, replace the unloader. Good luck

Lost pressure let handle go spits out 1 second of pressure then no pressure

What you are describing is an unloader valve failure. The unloader valve (also called a spill valve or safety pressure relief valve) is sticking in what is known as bypass. Your pump is able to build pressure but when the trigger is squeezed, rather than directing the flow up to the nozzle it is looping the pressure back through the pump as it does when you release the trigger. Depending on the specific brand and model you will need to either replace the unloader or lubricate it if it is a Karcher with a spill valve. If it is a Karcher there is a known issue with the following models:

K2300G1
K2400HB
K2400HH
K2401HH
K5800G
K5800G

All of these have an issue where the spill valve sticks and will need to be lubricated with Vaseline or lithium grease. You can view a guide for this process at http://www.landanorthwest.com/dms. Select Maintenance/Karcher/Pressure Washers/All/Spill valve lubrication.

Craftsman gas powered pressure washer kills motor when you release wand trigger.

The unloader/bypass valve is jamming or defective. When you are not pressing the button the water is directed through the unloader valve/check valve to recirculate. It is common for them to corrode or for the spring to break. If it has an adjustment screw on the unloading valve for unloading pressure make sure you count the turns before disassembling it to make sure you dont over pressurize it.It is not opening causing the engine to choke out. Please let me know if this helps

II lost High Pressure while washing I laid the gun down the time cut it off aand I reseted it and had no high pressure I removed the pressure adjuster and noticed it was rusted I cleaned it and replaced it...

The pressure adjuster you are talking about is actually your unloader which is a pressure relief valve. It is normal for this to pop up and down as it moves in and out of bypass mode. Your pressure issue could be a failed unloader, valves or packings in the pump. You will need to bypass your unloader valve to find if the issue lies in the pump or if it is simply a failed unloader. If you have any questions, need parts or service, please feel free to contact me using the information below.
