The wires don't come off the flyback. You have to take the front cover off where the speakers are. Trace them and unplug them.

You should post here pictures of old transformer and point out what wire you want to remove, then I can give you an idea what to do as flyback transformer is not in front of me.

Flyback transformer

A flyback transformer is one of the more expensive components in a projection TV. If there is no clear reason, such as a known power surge, you could well replace the flyback transformer again soon because the root problem was elsewhere.
An OEM transformer is not necessary but you might have trouble convincing an authorized factory service technician to use anything but the original manufacturer's parts.
As with many of today's electronic devices, if it is more than a year or two old, you will find the new products cheaper and with more features. The next generation of projection TVs will use lasers and scanning will be done with optically controlled micro-mirrors - no flyback transformer required.

Typically, the driver circuit is affected when the flyback transformer "dies". The most common device that fails with it is the deflection transistor/driver and associated components. Hope this helps...accordianman

I bought a new flyback transformer for a RCA D52W19 TV, but it came with no HV wire. How do you connect to it? Or maybe I was had?

This transformer does not come with the HV lead, you will need to use the one that is there on the old FBT. Unplug the TV for about 30 minutes to allow it to drain any voltage that might still be in the capacitors.
Remember SAFETY comes first.
Good Luck.
