Question about Nvidia Geforce FX 5200 Graphic Card

Crashing comp with nvidia geforce fx 5200

Any time i do something on my computer which changes the resolution (like playing a full-screen game off of a cd rom) my computer crashes and reboots. Sometimes this crash happens 30 seconds after I start the application, sometimes it's 10 minutes. This didn't happen before I added the nvidia geforce fx 5200, so I have to believe that the problem is related to that. I also recently experienced the same result when plugging in an apple mouse to my pc. do you know of a quick fix?

this doesn't seem to be the problem, I've attached my own custom fan directly onto the agp card and the problem is still occurring. any other possibilities that you know of?

Your agp video is overheating, see if the cooking fan attached in it is working fine.

try using your onboard video, and run the game again.. if it works, then your agp video had trouble

After installing the graphics card (nvidia geforce fx 5200 pci) it boots up fine then when i try to play a game it will come on then on starting the game it will just reboot please help

Make sure the graphics card can handle the games minimum requirements. if the game is trying to push more than the card can handle it will either kick you back to the desktop or reboot the computer.

You could try selecting properties on the shortcut and checking the run maximized box. Or you could try to find the .txt file with the game settings in it and manually insert a resolution. However, since I do not have the game, I cannot tell you were to find that. I hope this helps, Yannick.

I can't play any 3D games cause the screen goes Skitzo.

A pci graphics card is not suitable for playing games especially games like WoW. You need to get a new computer with a good graphics card eg, nvidia geforce 9600gt with a core 2 duo/quad processor!

Hi jhacy, I went over all you're posted questions conserning this issue with the FX5500 video card. Please include the manufacture name of you're motherboard & its model number. It is possible the video card is bad (Even if it's new). There are settings in the motherboard bios that me need to be shut off if the motherboard has an integreated video card onboard. It's possible that the AGP slot on you're board is dirty & needs to be cleaned. Please list the name or name's of the games you have tried to run but freeze you're computer or crash you're system.
I will automatically recieve an email from fixya when you post the information I have asked for above. Untill than, take care!

yeppers..in your system profile, you may need to shift how your processor is handling files. move pointer to maximum performance, or maximum resolution. can't have it both ways.

didn't see how much memory you have on board.

got backup?
