Next step (should have been the first sugestion... oops): clean - very gently - the laser lens with a 80% water 20%alcohol solution and let it dry for a minute.
Maybe dust, or the ocasional fingerprint is clogging the laser, and it reads nothing. Worth trying.

Maybe you dragged some files to the drive, and windows internal burner is using up the drive until you burn those files

If D drive is the CD/DVD unit, that is normal, written CDs/DVDs will result as full to the system.

If d: drive is an internal hard disk, that means that you or some software that you are using filled the space into the hard drive by saving files.
This is common if you use a downloader, like p2p software etc to download and share files on the internet.

If D: is an hard drive and it is full, you will need to connect an external hard disk via USB, to save the content of D drive.

You have to use a software to record CD, next time try to explain better the problem instead of giving us bad votes.

Download a CD burner software, if D is a CD you need to use a software like Nero, you cannot copy on a cd straight away.

You also need to use Rewritable CD,

here you can download nero Download Nero.

I appear to need a driver so that I can use my External DVD Writer Mode 1 SE-SO84 on my iMac using the Mac OS 9.2 operating system so that I can use its full potential. At present it will read DVD's...

Hi,
Welcome to Fixya. You don't need a driver since the mac computer was able to recognize the DVD and CD's. If you want to use the DVD writer to burn images on a blank cd you need to use a burning software. Can you please try use the software below and see it if will work.

Please let me know if this will work or not so that we can continue troubleshooting. Thanks

Tip

Use Clonezilla to backup your drive

In my previous few tips I alluded to using a program called Clonezilla to save an image of your harddrive as a backup. This tip goes through the process for you.

I made a video at the end of this tip that goes through the process step by step. Note that some of your stuff will be different (obviously), but mostly because I am using a virtual machine to do the capture. It's not important if you don't know what that is, just know that I don't actually FINISH the process, because I don't need to. The video gives you a good idea of how to do everything.

First, download clonezilla. You can find the download for the .iso file here. Get the stable release, then on the next page you should see a link to download the latest release. Download the .iso and burn it to a disk using the native windows disk burning app (in win7 and maybe vista), or using a free image burning program such as imgburn or a similar program. Now, insert the disk you just burnt into the computer to be backed up, and boot from it by restarting, then pressing the button to enter the bios boot menu (it should say on the screen as it's booting. If not, try Esc, Del, F1, F2, F7, F11, F12, etc). This will boot to clonezilla. Then, just follow along with the video.

Select disk-image to say you're cloning FROM a disk TO an image. When it asks for a USB disk, plug it in (if you have any problems like I did, you can always go back). Select the disk you are NOT backing up as /partimage...In other words, use your USB disk for /partimage, not your internal disk.

Then, you should be able to just accept the defaults and it will most likely complete without any issues. If you have any problems, there is fairly extensive support available in the clonezilla forum, as well as many other places online.

<utube src="jfHfXJEqzvA">
No Image after scanning using canon 8000f Windows XP. Can a nearly full hard disk cause this?

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.

Yes a full hard drive can stop the image from being saved to the hard drive but the scanner should still scan the image but not be able to save it to your drive. When you say nearly full hard drive you need some room to save images so if you can try and make some room for these images. Try scanning in preview first that should show you your image without saving it.

I hope this helps you out.

Windows media player let me burn cd but other software dosnt work

All you need to do is change the device it is going to burn the files to. Apparently it is currently set to burn an .nrg image file to your hard disk. If you click on the down arrow next to the Image Drive, you will see your DVD/CD drives listed there.

Norton ghost 14... I cant recover back up...

Ghost saved the drive information in an image file. Whatever you named your backup you would see *.gho, *001.gho, *002.gho. That is your whole hard drive in a spanned image file. Ghost Explorer is what you need to open and view these images and you would be able to extract files as your would from a zip file. There are no restore points as you would think using Windows Restore. Only the raw hard drive information as it appears on your dive now. I'm not sure if Ghost Explorer is provided with the home edition as I'm used to the enterprise for my work.
let me know if this helps

Pioneer DVD RW DVR-K17LF

You're creating Disk images on your Hard Disc Drive.

See where your CD Burning Software stores the images of the Disk and use the appropriate option to burn them onto a blank CD.
