If I hold the start button on the dryer the timer will advance but the dryer does not do anything else. If I let the button go than the timer stops.... Ideas?

You are feeding power to the timer through the start switch. Under normal conditions the power would travel through a centrifugal switch on the motor if the motor was running. Now you have to find out why it doesn't run. Check the button on the door switch and make sure it is not broken off. If the door switch is bad, the dryer will think the door is open even while closed. Another possible problem is that some newer dryers have a belt sensing switch that will not let the dryer run if the belt breaks or comes off. If it is an electric dryer it could be a bad power cord for the 220 line or the house outlet. The motor only runs off 1/2 of the 220 line (110 volts.) If there is a bad outlet or power cord hookup on the half that feeds the motor it will not run. Hard to guess when not there.

I have a candy tumble dryer. The drum still turns and have changed the all in one unit of the heater and thermostat. However still no heat any ideas please

is the blower blowing? are u getting a full 220 at the outlet? in some machines if u only get half or 110 volts u may have enough power to run motor but not run the heating which takes a full 220, also if ur motor has a bad winding or ur not getting full power at outlet, may also wannt to check terminal block on dryer

Dear Sir:
You have a serious problem:
Do the following step:
1) Test the power from outlet wall.
2) Test it for ground in the outlet wall.
3)power cord test for loose cable.
4) Reset c.breaker from the treadmill
5)test the transformer for voltage input and output(primary and secondary ).
6)Power supply see if there are some component burn or loose wire or melt.
7)See if there are +5 Vdc for digital circuit(main motor board.(
8) Run the calibration software under the Hood motor is the instruction. for diagnose.
attached the block diagram.
sincerely.

I have a 20 amp double pole breaker supplying an outlet for my 6 hp air compressor. The motor will start to run but seems it is not getting enough power. I have changed the breaker. Could it be the outlet?

Six horsepower at 110 volts equals about 40 amps draw on the line. The motor porbably starts off alright as the power draw is low, but as the pressure builds up the current draw increases and may be decreasing the voltage to the motor. If you are running 220 volts the amperage is halved but the power draw remains the same. Perhaps you need to reduce the size of your motor and increase the speed reduction. It will draw less power and take a little longer to deliver the same amount of air.

Our hayward power-flo matrix series pump will not go on. When we push the on switch, nothing happens. We have checked the brakers, ran an extension cord to check the outlet, checked to see the motor will...

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

Please explain what you mean by "checked the brakers, ran an extension cord to check the outlet, checked to see the motor will run manually and it will". I assume you mean the breaker in not tripped. What I am unsure of is how you would use an extension cord to check an outlet and what you mean by the motor runs manually.

If you have a power-flo matrix and it is plugged into a 115 volt outlet and by manually you mean you can spin the pump by hand and it turns freely and you have tried to plug something like a radio into the outlet to ensure it works then the problem is the motor or its on/off switch.

If a radio or some other item plugged into the same outlet also doesn't work you'll need to look at the electrical system.

Please add a comment to address what your situation is if this doesn't help.

Is the motor running if not check power at outlet you need 220 volts. Check voltage on end of power power cord in the machine. Check power to motor. Check start switch
If motor is running check the drum belt. Hope this helps.

My dryer won't turn on. it's plugged in. power is fine in the room. one of the link trap screws came out but I put it back in. still won't turn on. i can't find a model name or number printed on the...

I know you said you have power in the room, but make sure the breaker to the power outlet for the dryer has power, because most dryers are 220 volt and room power is 120 volt.
If the belt is broken on the dryer, it would also not allow the drum to turn, but the motor may be running.
Check to see if the motor is running. When motors are running with a broken belt they can almost be silent while running.
If your breaker is ok and power is ok at the power outlet, then your problem could be a faulty motor, broken belt, faulty start switch or faulty timer switch.
I hope this helps

Coleman 5KW gen motor shuts down when A/C switch turned on

Sounds like a problem with the wiring of the outlets after the circuit breaksr. Take apart the outlet box and have a look for burned or broken wires, melted outlets, and/or small critters stuck in the wiring.
I recently had to repair a generator that had its voltage regulator taken out by a frog!
