Mitsubishi 62525 DLP TV - No picture. display = Jumping setup screens

I have a 2004 wd 62525 and having problems with the picture. No picture, just tons of flickering and a black screen with a little green tinge. Flasing code 12, which means all okay except check power supply. I have pulled out the PWB and identified 2- 3300 microfarad (10 Vt) caps that are bulging. While I am in here I am wondering if I shoud pick up the kits for the PCB and PWB to fix it. Anyone have any ideas what I should do?
I hate this TV but am saving a few bucks trying to fix it myself.
Please email me at jetmizer@comcast.net. Here is the link to the kits I am looking at. I am not sure whether to get the PCB or PWB kits or maybe just buy the bulging caps as the 1000 micrifarad caps are not visibly bulging....Help.........

Guess I'm a little confused with using only the PCB repair kit as the visible problem {bulging caps on the PWB)wouldn't be remedied.
Are these caps vital to the power supply?

Can anyone please elaborate as I would rather put more parts in as there was so much time to dig in this far. Based on the problems does this seem symptomatic of the pcb or pwb?

I will have not problem replacing the individial capacitors on the PWB. AS these are not the typical problem that has been seen on this model, I am wondering based on the symptoms if there are other things I should investigate or replace???

I have a question about the capacitors I am about to replace. Here are the specs of the original:

3300 micro farad, 10 vt nichcon with a HD(M) on the side. The replacements I ordered are 33000 micro-farad 63 vt SAMXON with a KM(M) on the side. My question is will this replacement work and what do the Letters HD(M) and KM(M) mean?

    ARe these suitable replacemtents?

    Thanks,

    -Bill

The 63 volt capacitors will physically fit. DO you think they are okay to use?

If the capacitors are bulging, it means they have lost capacitance(value) and that will be affecting the 3.3 volts line. This voltage is powering up part of the microprocessor and memory circuitry and once that voltage is affected it will also affect the video circuitry. Measure the 3.3 volts and you might see that is lower then 3 volts due to the failing capacitors.
I would suggest to replace them as mentioned by bestdarngood and hopefully that should fix the error 12.
Good Luck.

The capacitance should always be as specified by the manufacturers but the voltage can be a bit higher as long it fits in the spacing provided.

The letters are some kind of code that the manufacturers use to be able to identify the lot, manufacturing date code.

The 63 volts might be a bit too big for your application due to the size of the part.

Let me know if you required further assistance.

They are OK to use as long they are 3300uF.

If you are able to replace the individual capacitors yourself, then that would be the cheapest route. If you don't have the knowledge of replacing them, then the easier method (not cheaper) would be to replace the board. I would go the cheapest route that you can accomplish. So if you don't know how to replace the capacitors, then but a full component that doesn't require as much skill to replace.

you could pick up the new caps at any electronics store such as Radio Shack which would be pretty cheap

well, for now I would replace the bulging caps and then if it happens again, investigate further, I would be more than happy to give further advice once you replace the caps, Depending on how much you use this tv, it may just be time for the caps to be replaced. You may up ending to replace the entire power supply if it happens again in the near future but for now the caps should just be replaced
