Question about Brother Office Equipment & Supplies

Open Question

Brother 8890DW MP tray feeder won't activate

Appears to be a mechanical problem. I slip paper or envelope into MP tray, so that detector is lifted up a bit. Normally, nothing further needs to be done. Ths signals the machine to draw paper from the MP tray tray rather than T1. But nothing happens.

SOURCE: Can't print from the MP tray?

When you print labels or envelopes you need to select the correct tray from the print menu. (File print or ctrl P) or the printer will think the normal paper tray is being used.

You can force the printer to change the tray after the print has been sent by pressing the continue button on the printer, just make sure that the normal tray has no paper in it.

Remove your tray.
Push it from the back and make it sure it's tight against the paper.
Move the blue button to the "unlocked" position.

Should be good to go!

SOURCE: Paper tray not lifting the paper up for the initial paper feeder

most common problem on these is the rear paper stop pressing too hard against the rear of paper causing paper not to lift. make sure you have about an 1/8" gap.

good luck,

SOURCE: my lexmark t520 says "load mp feeder letter"

Easy one. Open your tray back up and make sure that the paper settings are reflecting the type of paper that is in the tray. The times that I have seen the issue that you just described, the paper setting were off... thus causing this issue.

If that does not work. Powercycle printer. When it comes ready go to the Paper Menu, then to Default Paper source. Make sure that setting reflects the tray that you would like the printer to print from.

Hope that helps.

How doe I fix the "no paper" fill paper in the mp tray?

The MP (Multi Purpose) trays on this model are behind the machine in the back. There is a cover which can be unlatched. Unlatch it and slide the tray out. Insert up to 50 sheets of paper or 3 envelopes.

Here is the PDF manual. What you want is on page 12 http://download.brother.com/welcome/doc002444/cv_mfc8480n_usaeng_usr_lx2704001.pdf

If your printing from windows you might need to change the tray settings in the driver.

Load and print envelopes

Generally NO. The reason is they have a manual slot and rear exit that keeps the path nearly straight for things like envelopes, labels, cardstock etc so they dont have to make the turn from the tray and from the fuser to the fact down exit tray. If you need to do a mailmerge with numerous envelopes you could 1) print a sheet of labels and stick those to blank envelopes or 2) go to a more advanced machine that has envelope feeder capability. Even a used machine such as a Laserjet 4000 - you can find envelope feeders that just attach on easily for almost nothing on ebay.

Printer HL 5370 DW is wrinkling all envelopes. Is

If it's not wrinkling regular plain paper, then you need to tell the printer you're printing envelopes. Envelopes are thicker than letter paper. When you tell it to print, make sure you click on "Properties" and set the job for "Envelopes". Also, make sure the guides are set to fit the envelopes snugly.

How do I have printer switch from empty paper tray 1 to the full 550 paper tray 2

Hi. You need to do tray linking. When one linked tray is empty, paper feeds from the next linked tray. The size and type settings for all trays must be set from the Paper Menu. To set the paper type or size:
1. On the home screen, touch Menu button
2. Touch Paper Menu
3. Touch Paper Size/Type.
Note: To link the multipurpose feeder, Configure MP must be set to Cassette in order for MP Feeder Size or MP
Feeder Type to appear as a menu item.
4. Touch the right or left arrows to select the same size paper from all paper sources to be linked.
5. Touch the right or left arrows to select the same type paper from all paper sources to be linked.
Note: When the Size and Type settings are the same for any trays, the trays are automatically linked.
6. Touch Submit.
Submitting changes appears.
7. Touch Home to return to the home screen.
Hope this helps.

How topaper load cannon mp 160 pixma

Hi there,

Loading Paper into your Canon MP 160 Pixma.

A) Loading Paper :
Follow this procedure:
1) Open the Paper Support, then pull out the Paper Support Extension.

2) Place a stack of paper (print side up) in the Auto Sheet Feeder, pinch the Paper Guide and adjust it to the left side of the stack.
* Set the Paper ThicknessLever to the correct position for the paper.
Note : Set the Lever to the left for most paper. When the Lever is set to the right, the confirmation message appears before the machine starts printing.
Important : Make sure the stack does not exceed the Load Limit Mark.

B) Loading Envelopes
Follow the following steps:
1) Open the Paper Support, then pull out the Paper Support Extension.

2) Prepare the envelopes for loading.
Important : * Press down firmly on the edges of the envelopes to make the folds crisp. Also, press firmly on the area that corresponds to the edges of the back flap.
* Remove any curling by holding the edges diagonally and bending them gently.
* If the edges of the envelopes are inflated or curled, place the envelope on a flat surface. With a pen, press down while moving it from the center toward the edges of the envelope.
* Ensure that no curl or puff exceeds 1/8 in. (3mm).

3) Place the stack of envelopes (print side up) in the Auto Sheet Feeder, pinch the Paper Guide and adjust it to the left side of the stack.
* Load the envelopes in the Auto Sheet Feeder with the short side down.
* Set the Paper Thickness Lever to the right.

Important : Make sure that the stack does not exceed the Load Limit Mark.

Hope this helps. PLease rate my response.
Thanks
Have a good day.

The manual paper feeder will not feed (it is not recognizing the paper as being in the feeder)

On the Manual Feed Paper Tray, there is typically a lever that swings down, about in the middle, which accomodates envelopes, etc. Make sure that theat is not broke off, or wedged up into it's retraction slot. If so, use a tooth pick to try and pop it back down ( the tooth pick should break before the plastic does ), a knife or fork will have no mercy on the delicate lever.

Also, MP Trays have limited capacity.. too much, will not allow the paper to get back, inside far enough, to be sensed.. typically 25-30 sheets.

On the main paper tray, typically, the 'Paper Sensor' is a mechanical tab on the outside of the paper tray. If the tab is broken off, the printer may not 'see' the tray as being inserted. Pull the the tray out, use a vacuum with a skinny crevice tool attachment and **** out any paper debris, dust, etc that maybe blocking an electronic eye, though uncommon for cost reasons, by the thousands and the controlling circuit board that would also be needed also.
