You might have messed up the inside electronics and software on the circuit board in the tv when the cable was pulled from the back of the tv without being unscrewed. You might need a new tv but try to check a few things first. Look at the cable cord that got pulled from the back of the tv and see if there is anything else on it other than the screw that held the cable in the back of the tv. If it is a small piece connected to the screw, then you just might need the circuit board replaced in the back of the tv. Then try plugging up the tv and pressing the power button twice. If it doesn't stay on, then you might need a new circuit board.

If you can not get a new tuner for the price you want, you might just have to get a cheap used one from the same type of tv you have.

You could. All you have to do is unscrew all of the screws from the tv and take the back off. Then you should see a circuit board near the place where the cable was pulled out. There should be screws holding the circuit board down. Unscrew those and if there is a cord connecting the circuit board to the tv, then disconnect the cord(s) and put in the new board. Put all of screws back in and test it. It should work.

Hi,

Your post "cable connector pulled out" as the original issue. However the "tv won't stay on" is indicative that the protection circuitry has kicked in and the unit has sustained some sort of damaged sensed by the protection. Offhand, this could be cracked board, tuner block dislocation, cold solder or just about any other possible electronic defect. Initially, you would need to visually inspect for any of the aboive and thereafter proceed with voltage checks and circuit diagnosis. Pls be reminded of safety requirements when working with live units.

Hope that this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back the brand and model, how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

    Hi again,

Can you do it yourself, yes. Assuming you have familiarity with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. If you are considering a DIY, it would be to your advantage to have access to a service manual or at least a schematic diagram. It would seem that there is little free info on the D52W26 but you could start here. Additionally, you could order a service manual from here. The idea is not to start/work blind. The service manual would have a checklist that one can follow to arrive at a more conclusive diagnosis.

    Cheers.

Some Tv's wont come on until it recievs a signal, like a cable signal or a DVD signal, etc. The cable connector is broken and will have to be fixed/replaced. Once that is done, the TV should work. You can verify by connecting a DVD/CD player to your TV and see if the TV works or not..

if you move the tuner in back the tv might come back on if not then its broke and either they can replace the connector or the tuner its self will need replaced

  • jason Oct 26, 2008

is the connector bent or broke?

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

yes , without that tuner connected on the board( where it probably needs to be soldered) it will not complete the circut

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

how bad was the connector dammaged?

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

and if it cracked the tuner board then the tuner will need replacing , and i belive you can get a tuner for that very easy

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

you have to make sure the tuner itself is soldered good and that it did not crack the tuner board or the main board

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

they will vary depending on how you go about getting the tuner , but usually there not exspensive shouldn't be more than $100 ,check with some suppliers give them the tuner id number and get a price then check others to get the best price

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

i'm looking for some good places and prices for you , be back with the best results

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

here is a great place to get the parts

but i'm still looking for you for better prices

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

can you upload a picture of the dammage so I can better determine the dammage?

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

was the tuner ripped from the board? if not then its not that bad ! if the tuner is not soldered to the board well anymore the tv won't start up , is the tuner dammaged? or the main board that is soldered to?

  • jason Oct 27, 2008

it may only need to be resoldered ! and that don't cost anything, and a new connector is only 1 dollar

My toshiba TP48E60 model projection tv won' turn on, power light just blinks

Blinking of power LED are fault indications. Count the number of blinks occur at one time switch on. For this number, you can get an idea about the faulty section circuit inside it. It will make troubleshooting much narrower. If you wish to get more details about the blinking codes, check this link. Pull up older posts there.

I have a sony KV-30HS420 CRT HD television whose menu keeps flashing on and off. I'm not sitting on a remote anywhere, and I've disabled all the signals in the house that I think might be...

Hi
Get the set to reset fist and see whether it helps you. To reset it do the folloing:
1 Press POWER to turn on the TV
2 Hold down RESET on the remote control.

3 Press TV POWER on the TV. (The TV will turn itself off, then back
on.)
4 Release RESET.
If this process does not solve the proble of your TV, its memory IC has damaged. Memory IC is one which holds the data we enter to the TV set, and the processed is stored. It is a nn volatile memory [the memory stored in it won't get lost even power is switeced OFF]; which holds all the data in. The data stored in it will retrive to main system processing IC each time we switch ON the TV set. This is an eight terminal IC, very samll one indeed, can be located very near to the main system control IC, at system control section. It can be repalced. This IC can be bought from most of the electronic spare part shops at your town. It is very cheap to buy. Even though it is very small and cheap one, its function in TV circuit is great. Almost all the functions data is stored in it each time we operate the system. It will have a specific number printed on it, and should be noted when buy a new one. Insist on that number, substitutions or an other number won't even switch ON your TV. OK.
