Question about Roper RAS6233KQ Top Load Washer

Washer won't start/fill/spin -- anything

I have a Roper RAS833PQ that is only about 18 months only. It won't do anything. It just died. It was working fine and then nothing. I have checked the power source and the fuse box. There is power going to the washer. I've seen some things about a "lid switch," but I'm not sure how to check that. Please help!

The machine doesn't do anything. It just sits there. I have lifted and lowered the lid and it does click. I tried to use each temperature setting and cycle, but it does nothing. There is no water coming in. No spinning. Nothing. It is absolutely dead.
If it doesn't do anything at all, can the timer or lid switch (if those are the problems) be replaced inexpensively without having to call in a repair person? Or do I just have a giant paper weight sitting in my basement?

With the lid down, hold down the Start button until you hear a click. The washer should begin to fill.

Dea, does the washer fill? If it fills and justs sits there it could be the pressure switch. If it fills, agitates and then no spin no drain, then it's the lid switch. If it doesn't do any of the above, it may be a timer issue. Lift the lid and gently lower it, do you hear a click when the actuator on the lid hits the switch? I will attempt to attach a picture on how the consol flips up to see the lid switch harness, pressure switch and timer. Your model will have two screws that must be removed, they maybe in back of the end caps. To remove the lid switch unclip the clips on the right and left side, unplug the harness and tip the cabinet foward. You will see how the lid switch mounts to the cab. back

Dea, if you have power at the outlet and the machine doesn't do anything it's more than likley your timer. Even if the lid switch was bad the washer would fill. There are some tests you could do buy you would have to have a meter. For the model number of ras6233kq0 the part number for the timer is 3953146. The price is around 68.30 for the timer. With-out being there and doing some voltage checks, and what you are describing I would believe it's the timer. It's an easy job. But try unpluging the harness to the timer and reseating it first. back.

Our Roper HD 8 cycle top load washer will not start, fill or anything except spin on any cycle. I am not sure where to start looking - any help appreciated

If the lid is not locking, then it could be the electromagnetic door catch, Check the power switch, on the machine, then check the carbon brushes and the motor.

I have a Roper ras7133kq1, top load washer. About 3 months ago I replaced the lid switch because it wouldn't drain or spin. Now it will ONLY spin, it won't fill with water or agitate, the only way...

If it won't fill you will need to replace the "water inlet valve" on the back of the unit. The unit will only agitate if it gets the signal from the water level pressure switch.
Here is the valve to order.

My roper top load washer model rtw4440vq fills with water but wont wash, spin or drain

see this causes and fix it. God bless you
Motor Coupling If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor coupling might have failed. The motor coupling connects the motor to the washer transmission. It is designed to fail if the washer is overloaded in order to protect both the motor and
Drive Belt If the washer won't spin or agitate, check the drive belt. If the belt is broken or if it isn't tight on the pulleys the washer won't spin or agitate properly.

Drive Motor If the washer won't spin or agitate the drive motor might be defective. This is not common. Check all of the other related parts to this symptom before replacing the motor. If the motor is visibly burned out or physically damaged, replace it.

Stator Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the stator assembly might be burned out. The stator is essentially one half of a motor, it interacts with the tub by creating a strong electro-magnet. If the stator burns out the washer won't spin or agitate. Check the stator for continuity. This part is often misdiagnosed.

Door or Lid Latch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the lid switch assembly might be defective. This is a very common problem. The lid switch assembly can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any electrical switches with an Ohm meter for continuity. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Door Lock Motor and Switch Assembly If the washer won't spin or agitate the door lock assembly should be checked. The door lock can fail either mechanically or electrically. Test any switches on the door lock with an Ohm meter. The switches should have continuity according to their design.

Motor Control Board If the washer won't spin or agitate the motor control board might be defective. The motor control board provides power to the motor as well as direction and force. If the motor control board is defective the washer may not work at all or function properly.

Roper washer

That could be your lid switch. You should hear an audible click when you shut the lid. If the washer act like it is trying but won't spin that could be the drive coupler. I have a page which includes a service manual HERE
