Question about EliteGroup K7SOM (K7SOM W/CPU) Motherboard

No Power to Motherboard...

I use the EliteGroup K7SOM Motherboard and recently i have used the computer fine..until today and there is no power flow from the wall to the power source and concequently the motherboard. I have tried putting a new power supply in, and that did not work..ive cheked all the connnections to the board and they all seem to be connected well..but i cannot understand how it would have just died.

I need help please. Thank you

Here are some steps.

Attach the monitor in your CPU and plug it, see if the monitor powers up. If it did, then no problem in your power supply,

Detach the RAM or Memory of your CPU and put it back in, in the different slot. and power up your computer.

Check the cpu power switch if it is correctly attached to the motherboard.

Hello Wongcarlkley, hi, looks like you have memory module problem, need to clean module contacts using pencil eraser, try this fix first and see if it will solve your problem.

What cpu can I upgrade to using my K7SOM+ motherboard? curently using AMD Athlon 1800.

Planning to upgrade my RAM(motherboard K7SOM + V7.5C). Ram have high & low density. What is the difference? Which suit my motherboard? Thanks.


Look at the sticks of RAM -- "high" density means fewer chips on each side of the stick, i.e., newer technology and production methods have packed more bits into each chip, while "low" density usually means 8 chips/side, using older RAM chips.

Older motherboards do not expect to find "high" density RAM, and typically will only detect 1/4 or 1/2 of the RAM on the stick.

If you buy a new motherboard, it will support BOTH densities.

Each memory slot can hold DDR PC2700 or DDR PC3200 with a maximum of 1GB per slot.

check the memory card if the memory card is faulty the system would show no vga if u checked it the problem lies with ur mother board
