Question about Haier Refrigerators
There was ice forming inside the refrigerator, so I turned the temperature to Zero and started to clean. I poured a little bit of warm water to break the ice. After cleaning, I removed the extra water that came out through the back of the refrigerator, and switched the temperature up to 7. After a few days, I checked back and it wasn't cooling at all. Please Help. I bought this refrigerator about a month ago.

You may have a low freon condition in the fridge section. Look to see if you have an ice block building up on the rear wall towards the lower left side. If so, you are low on freon and the ost likely culprit is a leaking evaporater. The best way to tell if you are low on freon for sure is to take out all the shelves, remove the light cover, then the 2 screws holding the fan cover, and then remove the back wall. You wont be able to pull it all the way out cause the cold control is attached to it for the freezer and fridge so be careful. Turn the fridge control all the way up to 10 and wait till the compressor is running. you can tell if the compressor is running by pushing in the little switch on the top of the door frame and seeing if the fan runs(one switch is for lights, the other for fan) if it runs the compressor is on. anyway watch the coils and see if they develop frost all the way from top to bottom. If they dont you are low on freon and are ooking at about a $600 repair. if it does frost all the way you may have a bad cold control or a stalling fan motor up by the condensor on top. The best way to tell this is the next time the fridge feels warm, sheck the frame around the door seal and see if it is hot to the touch. If it is you almost surley have a bad condensor fan motor. Hope you can wade through all tis to find the answers. Good Luck!

SOURCE: Sub-Zero 550
I had the same problem with my 550...several times the tech came out and used a steam machine to blow out the drain...which didn't solve the problem. Finally, they ordered a refrigerator drain heater from sub-zero (part#4201290) and this finally fixed the problem. Hope this helps...I'm not a tech, just a customer. K

This component is a heating element located on the evaporator coil. When the refrigerator or freezer switches to the defrost cycle, the defrost heater is turned on to melt the frost in the compartment. Failure of the defrost heater causes failure to defrost.Test the element with a VOM set to the RX1 scale. To gain access to the heating element, remove the compartment's wall panels. Clip one probe of the VOM to each element terminal. The meter should read between 5 and 20 ohms. If it doesn't, the heating element is faulty and should be replaced. Replace the heater with a new one of the same type and electrical rating. Connect the new heater the same way the old one was connected.

Hi, If you are talking about the tubing behind the crisper drawer, it is there to hold water for the dispenser in the door. The old design was a canister to hold water. Now it is tubing. I hope this helps you.
