Conexant sound card boosting

I have a sony laptop with a Conexant sound card and the sound is not that great its actually awful, is there a way to boost the sound?? what steps can be take to increase the volume, all the basics have been covered so have the all the settings.. just looking here if there is maybe a driver that can be downloded to boost increase the sound volume. Its a shame that Sony fall so short on the sound department.. i mean they used to be at the cutting edge for sound, and to find out that their laptops have this crappy sound cards its really a let down, i'm using headphones mposty of the time and i've have a set of Bose headphones that are very good. i'm just curious if i can just raise the quality here. cheers

i just want to point out that i want to increase the volume on my headphones not on teh actual speakers, i was thinking of maybe trying to get the Relatek sound Drivers but i don't think that it going to be possible. since the sound card is Conexant.

Surely there must be a way of getting more juice out of the current soud card?

You could get better sound quality and volume by attaching powered stereo speakers to your Sony via the headphone socket.

The amp in the laptop is not very powerful and if the volume level on the laptop is set to the Max. then that is all that is available.
Your headphones may need more power than the laptop can supply, try a different set of headphones, they maybe more efficient and louder.

Laptop soundcards cannot be replaced. It is an annoying unfortunate fact. The thing to do would be to find the driver that works the best and stick with it. From what I can tell the sound is by Altec Lansing not Conexant, Conexant typically does modem drivers.

Conexant high defination audio

Hi.
Here is the link to download the software for your conexant hd audio

http://drivers.softpedia.com/get/SOUND-CARD/OTHER-SOUNDCARDS/Conexant-HD-Audio-Driver-418050.shtml

The driver should re-enable your audio back to the way it was.

I hope this helps.

Drivers problem

Conexant is a chipset Manufacturer, they don't produce the actual devices used to play Audio. To better assist, we would need to know more information regarding this particular issue (IE: Laptop model, or Audio Card Model for Desktop). Please provide this information so that we may be of some help.
