Laptop will not charge, tried other chargers

My son's gateway laptop will not charge. We have tried several different chargers so it is a problem within the charging area of the computer. Any way to fix it ourselves?

I has a similar problem with my old laptop. Consider trying a new battery. At some point, the batteries just stop taking a charge. You can get an appropriate battery for your computer on the internet at a reasonable price - check Ebay for the going price for auctions or buy it now.

If not a new battery it could be a broken DC input.

If your handy with a soldering iron its a relatively easy fix, but the stripping of the laptop and reassembly is a bit of a nightmare.

I cannot get this laptop to power on. I've tried 2 different wall chargers giving them plenty of time to charge and still nothing

Remove the laptop battery and make sure the contacts are clean. Reinstall it and try again. If still nothing, take the charger and the laptop to a computer repairer.

Charger light goes out when plug in computer

it could be that the connection jack on the mainboard has been dislodged from the solder joint, common among Gateway comuters and HP units too. is the DC jack loose from the notebook ? if so thats the issue it seems. You will have to bring it to a computer person to resolder. if not and youc an do it yourslef, save money -- but be careful not to damage anything on the mainboard.

Gateway laptop died. Several times it appeared to reboot only to go black and go off. No fan or lights. How can I fix this myself?

does it show that it is charging from the charging light/power supply? Is there any life left in the battery? is the charger charging the battery? the batteries dont last in laptops usually about a year before the go bad and have to be replaced, Is the charger working? The chargers go faulty all the time, The little plug that plugs into the laptop goes faulty and is a very common fault and doesnt charge/power the laptop, The only thing you can try is another power supply of the same name/model/output voltage and current with the same small plug and polarity or another battery of the same type/model, If you can do this and it doesnt cure your fault it needs looked at by a technician, Hope this helps, If you need more assistance let me know,

I need to purchase a new charger for my Gateway CX2724 laptop. Will any charger for a Gateway laptop do, or do I need to look for one for my model specifically?

there are different voltage outputs and amperage ratings on different chargers. as long as the plug fits, and the numbers are the same, you'll be fine. I would try to get a charger meant for your unit though.

The power receptors next to the battery sound like toast. Try running the computer off of just the charger (correct one) with no battery. If this works, you need a new battery. If this doesn't work, your computer needs a new power supply. Hope this helps =]

WAS MISSING CHARGER, but was running on battery. will not charge battery or power up, no lights. Battery went dead MT6821 GATEWAY

Hi,

All you need to do is be sure whu will need to replace both.

If the problem is with either the charger/battery you will need to figure that out first.

Please have the battery charged of your laptop, and try using the laptop only with the battery and without the charger, If it works fine you will have to check the charger now.

In order to check the charger, please take out the battery from the laptop, now connect your charger to the laptop and try switching on the laptop. If it does not work then your charger is faulty.

You can purchase the accessories online at various portals. I am providing one of the portal information:

I have a gateway MT6840. I am having charging problems.

This problem requires the dismantelling of the system and the socket either being resoldered to the motherboard or replaced if it is damaged. if you cannot or are not comfortable with doing this yourself, you will need to get a tech shop to do this for you.
