I have intel pentium (R) 4 cpu 2.80GHz but its sound is not working meanz the usb port is working if we use headphones on it then headphones are working but speakers are not working i tried every type of...

If the headphone is working,
and you are connecting a compatible pc speaker to the same green port at the back panel of pc,
and if the connecting cable is not faulty,
speaker should work.

Make sure speaker is powered on
Also check the same speaker with another pc if it works.

It works only one speaker !

The cable will run from the PC to the first speaker, then from the first speak to the second speaker. If the second/furthest speaker is the one that doesn't work, it is possible that the connection between the two speakers is bad. Check the cable for damage.
If the first speaker/closest speak to the PC or the one connected directly to the PC is the one not working, the problem is like your jack. Check to make sure the cable is fully seated and that the speaker jack is not loose. Run Windows Update and check for audio hardware driver updates as well.

Dell Dimension 4700 PC Speaker No Sound

Check to make sure all cables are connected. After this you will need to click on your sound card properties and set it to 5.1. which will allow all the speakers to play.

Please note you will need to have a card that supports 5.1 sound I do not believe the stock card in the Dell supports this feature which could be the problem.

External speakers don't work but internal speaker works fine.

Try your speakers on another system to make sure speakers are working.

Make sure volume control on PC is not set on mute.

Make sure onboard sound is enabled in BIOS

Try re-installing the sound card driver.

If all this fails and you have a spare slot on your PC just purchase a new sound card for about $10.00 or so.

Scratchy Sound, Major Problem

Try the speakers on another PC with good working sound. This will indicate either a speaker problem or a sound card issue.

If speakers work ok on 2nd pc, then you have a sound card issue on your pc. If speakers are still scratchy on 2nd pc.. check the metal connector end, make sure it is clean and shiny. If there is any rust or other oxidation, clean it off with a very fine grade of sand paper

Speakers do not go on.

try the speakers on another PC with working sound. This will tell if the speakers have gone bad or not. If they work on a second PC, the you have a sound card or Windows volume issue on your PC.

Speakers

Most speakers are 'Dumb' devices that means there isn't any information exchange between them and your PC. Other than your PC providing the source sound for your speakers to play.
Some sound cards can detect that speakers or a microphone are plugged in but not what type.

Possibly your sound card on your PC is not working or you have the speakers plugged into the wrong sockets.
