SOURCE: connecting laptop to sony hdmi tv

There is a option on T.V.'s that you need to put it to VGA on the t.v. also you can go into properties on the output of the video to the t.v. and laptop to verify that it is sending a signal.
Also check to make sure all the cords are pressed in properly and that the cord doesn't have any cuts or cracks in it or any pins are bent at one or another end it happens sometimes it get's plugged in the pins aren't hard to bend.

Toshiba large screen - connected to my laptop with an Auvio USB to HDMI adapter.

First confirm that you do not have a VGA connection for a PC in the back of your TV. Many PC's connect directly into the TV's with VGA connection provided. If only HDMI then a converter can be a reliable alternative.

A VGA to HDMI converter may be a better solution. This particular device identified in the link has the power from the USB of the laptop to operate, the sound from the audio out of the laptop, and assuming you have a VGA out for a monitor the connection to the converter will give you choice of resolution.

There are many different units available and the one in the ink is just an example.
Hope this helps?

I want to connect my samsung nc10 to hmdi on my television

Well without a special adapter you cannot connect that laptop to HDMI. Your laptop only has a single analog VGA video out port. HDMI is a pure digital connection based on DVI and not compatible with VGA. There are VGA to HDMI converters but the are pricey at about $70 US Dollars. Keep in mind that the picture quality may not be perfect (since VGA is not digital.) You can find VGA to HDMI converters on the internet at places such as Walmart. You may want to check if your TV has VGA port in which case you would use a simple and inexpensive VGA cable. Another option would be to purchase a USB Video card that has HDMI output. IOGear makes a USB HDMI video card CLICK HERE to see it. Prices for USB video cards are often around $70 as well.

Connecting laptop VGA port to HDMI port on a TV
VGA to HDMI converter is required to connect a laptop to a TV with HDMI input. The VGA signal does not have an audio component. You need to connect an audio cable from the audio/headphone port on your laptop to the audio connector on your TV. There are HDMI converters with Audio input so you do not need to connect an audio cable to the TV. The audio is connected to the HDMI converter and then passes the audio with the video data to the HDMI cable to HDMI port on the TV. Check out these WEB site for these HDMI converters. http://www.aten.com/products/productItem.php?model_no=vc180 http://www.sybausa.com/productInfo.php?iid=1174 http://www.topbuy.com.au/tbcart/pc/Audio-VGA-to-HDMI-Video-Converter-Box-HD-HDTV1080P-p164633.htm

Get a component video cable (blue, green, red) and a separate RCA audio cable (white and red) if your cable box has a component video output and the TV has a component video input.

If your cable box doesn't have the component output, you will need a converter to go from the HDMI to component video. Something like this: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/hdmi-to-component.html . There are other converters available if your TV has some other inputs available.

A cable that has an HDMI M on one end and a VGA M on the other will not work. HDMI signals from the set top box are a digital signal. The VGA port on the TV is set to read an RGB analog signal. (Similarly a component to VGA cable would not work since the RGB and PbPrY are not compatible.)

I hope this helps.

How to connect a Samsung R700 PC to Sony LCD TV KDL-46S2010

hi my name is Rui i would like to help you with your problem...

its just easy to connect a PC to a sony lcd tv...^_^ here are 5 ways to do it...

1. S-Video - This is probably the most common method out there currently because an S-Video Cable is cheap as heck and just about every TV under the sun has a S-Video port. You'll have to make sure you laptop is equipped with this port. Remember, there are two types of S-Video cables: 4-pin and 7-pin. Most laptops and PC's are equipped with a 7-pin port, so if your TV only has a 4-pin S-Video port, then this method will not work.

2. VGA - If you have a HDTV, then you will be better off connecting using a VGA Cable. It gives much better quality than S-Video and as with S-Video, the cable is very cheap. You usually won't find a VGA port on regular TV's though, so this option is if you have an HDTV.

3. DVI - DVI stands for Digital Visual Interface with "digital" being the key word there. The digital signal will give a higher quality picture than either S-Video or VGA. Of course, your computer will need to have a DVI connection and your TV will need to be an HDTV. This cord is definitely not cheap, it ranges anywhere from $40 to $80.

4. HDMI - Using HDMI will give you the best quality by far. No computers that I know of yet have HDMI ports, but you can get a DVI to HDMI cable to connect it to your HDTV. HDMI is compatible with DVI.

5. Scan Coverter Box - This is the last method that I could think of and it involves using a scan converter box, which takes a VGA signal and converts it into S-Video or component video.

just try hooking up 1 of this tips i give you.well if you ask me i prefer HDMI & VGA. ^_^
but it will still depend on your preference..

hope this will help you... Good luck... ^_^

Trying to hook up my laptop to my philips HDTV....got a vga coverter to a HDMI cable to the TVand have nothing...Do I have the wrong cables or something?

I would try using the standard VGA first, set up the picture speed and size first though. Take a look at the specification of the Plasma and match your PC to it. You will not gain much from using an HDMI upscaler. When you have a pisture then convert VGA from the PC to HDMI and at least you will know what is not working then.
Hope that helps.
