Question about Graphics Cards

Model MX3210 screen is black - intermittent

Hi

My friend has a gateway computer and she is experiencing black screen. Once in awhile the computer would display but most of the time it is black.

Does that sound like a video card problem. How much is a video card?

Thanks
Linda

It is likely that your memory card is not properly attached to its slot, detach it and place it in a different slot right beside it.

Hi,

When you plug your camera into your computer does does the Camera turn on? - With my Sony Camera I have to turn it on by hand before the computer will see it.

When you plug your camera into your computer does the computer make a noise or pop up a window to let you know a camera has been detected? - if your camera is on, the computer should see it! BUT some cameras require "input" on the camera itself before it will transfer files. Look at the Cameras LCD to check and see if this is the case for your Camera... just make sure it is connected to your computer and turned on.

If none of that works, it is possible that the driver did not install properly or there is a problem with the USB port or Cable. If you can, try different ports and cables.

After installing new ATI HD4670 video card on my Gateway zx6810 I boot system hear no beeps computer powers on but screen is black

Hello

Is this new video card the only video source on the PC (i.e. there is no other VGA connections on the PC)?

Without knowing the make and model of the PC, I will list the most common issue when replacing the video card in a PC.

1. Connect the monitor to each available VGA connection and boot the computer - to see if any VGA output is working

2. When you find a working VGA output, go into BIOS and change the VIDEO settings to either allow BOTH the onboard and add in video OR allow the add in video only. Save the changes and turn the computer off.

3. Move the video cable to the add in video card, turn the computer on and see if the BIOS is using the new Video card
