SOURCE: spin vacum won't suck up water

This happens when the filter on the inside of the lid for the dirty water tank is pushed all of the way up. You need to leave a 1/4 in. gap from the top to the top of the filter. Or the lid is not locked down all the way.

SOURCE: no suction when vacuming floors

Hi.

There are 2 types of Dc07 one is clutched & has two belts the second has only one belt going from motor to brush roller.

Lay machine on its side pull back handle as if you are to vac carpet switch machine on look to see if brush roller is spinning.

If it is not spinning unplug machine from mains supply & remove the sole plate by turning the three plastic screws to unlock position, Lift sole plate away if you have non clutched machine you will now see the brush roller with A belt going from this to the motor shaft belt may have snapped or come off so replace it.

If your Dyson has A clutch unit this engages the brush roller when you pull the handle back to vacuum.

Check the clutch control knob which is at the bottom left side of machine looking from the front.
It should rotate to drive position when handle is pulled back.

If it doesnt turn the knob by hand to drive.

If you still have no brush rotation after doing all this then either the clutch is faulty or the second belt which goes clutch to motor has snapped & will need replacing.

There are service manuals available for these repairs at this site

It is not picking up anything although just emptied and cleaned

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC35 doesn't seem to be picking up as well as it should be, there may be a blockage in the floor tool, wand or bin inlet. The filter may also need a wash.

In normal use, we recommend washing the filter at least once a month using cold water without detergent. Allow at least 24 hours for the filter to dry completely before replacing it.

Our online support guide will walk you through each of the checkpoints needed to locate and remove any blockages: http://www.dyson.co.uk/support/dc35/dc35-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-picking-up-as-well-as-usual/how-to-wash-filters/check-wand

This should resolve the issue, but our experts are on hand to provide further assistance if you need it. You can reach us by calling the Dyson Customer Helpline on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

I cleaned the brush took the whole head apart put it back together now it wont pick up anything. plus it only works whennyou release the handle

Hi Jennifer, it's Jack at Dyson.

Like most current Dyson upright vacuums, DC40's brush bar is engineered to shut off for protection if something jams it. Although I appreciate you've already checked the cleaner head for any issues, you might like to do so again following the steps shown in the Support video I've attached. You should then be able to reset the machine.

Please note, the brush bar will never rotate when the machine is standing upright, so please recline it into the normal vacuuming position before testing it. With the machine running, press the silver brush control switch twice.

You may also like to check for any blockages which could be effecting pickup performance. Just follow the steps shown in our online troubleshooting guide: http://www.dyson.com/support/dc40/dc40-multi-floor/my-machine-is-not-working/machine-not-sucking-up-well

If you're still having difficulty after you've given this a try, it would be best if you can get in touch with us directly so our experts can provide further assistance. Dyson upright and canister vacuums come with a 5-year warranty, and if a repair or replacement part is needed we'll be happy to confirm if this is covered.

You can reach the Dyson customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

    Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty with your DC18. If the machine doesn't seem to be picking up as well as usual through the cleaner head, please follow the steps shown in our online Support guide to make sure everything is correct with your machine:

You may also want to give the filter a wash - in normal use, this should be done at least once every 3-6 months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 12 hours for the filter to dry completely somewhere warm before replacing it.

Jan 31, 2012 | Dyson DC25 All Floors Bagless Upright...

    1 Answer

I have no suction for vacumming the floor. the wand is totally still working and sucking it heart out. clear hosing doesnt looked cracked. dont know where else to look.

Hi, if the wand is doing its job very well, you have to have a blockage some where, either in the hose where it attaches to the bottom of the unit near the roller section. It may be hard to see, but this is what is causing the bottom from not picking anything up. Flip it over and remove any screws at the corners you may have. The bottom should pull right off. It will fit in 2 notches. Try and remove the roller and belt. Check for anything that may have been sucked up in that end. I bet you will find the problem. With all of the parts out of the way, plug it in and turn it on to see what has changed. If still no suction, you have to keep looking for the blockage. Keep me posted on this.
    Sincerely,
    Shastalaker7
