There is no inherent problem with the Kitchenaid ceramic inserts. As far as a replacement ceramic insert, I would suggest calling Kitchenaid Customer Service. They may be able to provide a new insert at no cost if the unit is still within the 1 Year warranty.

Go to the site of the manufacturer and find the link for replacement parts. You will need the model name and number of your cooker. Usually you can replace the crock.
