Problem with Sharp CD-BA200

I was playing the radio on my Sharp system and all of a sudden it shut off and the word "PROTECT" came up on the screen. It will not work at all now. I tried leaving it unplugges and plugging it in again and it still says the same thing. What should I do?

I just called Sharp customer service line. I was told it's a "problem with the software"...whatever the hell THAT means, but it has to be serviced.

My sharp cd-ba200 will barley play cds

Put the player On for few hours or overnight. Now remove the panel and get access to the optical head unit, use a clean ear bud to polish the optical head. If not the optical head is weak and must be replaced.

My Sharp model no. CD-BA250 is displaying "protect". It will not turn off on or anything!! How do i clear it out to fix the problem.

Disconnect your speaker boxes. If the "protect" error goes, then the speakers or wires may be at fault. If the error remains, most likely the audio output IC is blown.

Won't start up

"Protect" error could mean one or both of the output IC's are defective. This can be caused if the speakers or the wiring have shorted. Try the unit without the speakers to see if it starts up.
