Connecting to a macbook

Hi.

This is all what you just need to do. You need to get you mac address first and edit it using a computer that is currently connect to your router as you are using Mac filtering. To check your mac address :

To find the serial number located on the computer If the MacBook is not turned on, you can open the computer's battery bay to find the serial number.
The MacBook serial number and Ethernet ID (also called a MAC address) are located on the bottom of the computer, underneath the battery, in the battery bay.

Finding serial number and encription code that works

I think you're getting confused.

You don't need to give the device serial number to a router. If you're using WEP it's going to be wanting one of two things. A key or the MAC address. The MAC address will be printed on the device in the format xx:xx:xx:xx:xx with a series of letters and numbers. If it's looking for a key, that is the security code set up by your router. Either retrieve that by using a wired connection to your router and accessing it directly, or use the hardware reset button on the back of your router which will wipe out the encryption settings. Either way, it will not accept the serial number because that's not what it's asking for.

How do I find the MAC address of my wireless router?

The MAC address is listed on the label located on the bottom of the router, below the serial number. The LAN/Wireless and WAN MAC address can be obtained by logging into the web-based configuration of the wireless router. Follow the steps below for this method. Step 1 Open a web browser and type the IP address of the wireless router in the address bar (default is 192.168.0.1). Press Enter. Step 2 The default username is admin (all lower case) and the default password is blank (nothing). Click OK. Step 3 Click the Status tab and then click Device Info to the left. This page will list the WAN, LAN, and Wireless MAC address.
