Question about Aiwa AV-D57 Receiver

Won't Power On...

All I can get out of my receiver now is a clicking sound whenever I push the power button. I tried pushing the Power and Enter buttons at the same time hoping to achieve a resetting of the factory settings, but it just tries to keep powering itself up about every 2 seconds to no avail. Anyone have any ideas if I will ever be able to use my receiver again?

Re: Won't Power On...

Hello degaff, This is what I would do to try to determine the problem: 1. Disconnect everything from the receiver. The only thing connected should be the power cord. Make sure the power cord is disconnected from power for at least 30 minutes in order to reset the internal electronic software. 2. Then, power it up - still nothing else connected. If it powers up normally and "looks" like it is going to work, then turn it off and connect only the right speaker to its amplifier and try again. If it still looks normal, then turn it off and connect the DVD or CD player and run some music through that speaker. If it still looks normal, then shut it off and connect the left speaker, etc... In other words go one-by-one in checking it out. 3. If it does NOT power up after step ONE, then there is a problem internally. If it powers up only to shut down again, there is still a hardware problem internally. The usual cause is shorted output transistors. And the normal cause of shorted outputs is a short on the speaker line, a short inside one of the speakers or overdriving the amplifier for too long a period of time. If the outputs need replaced, then it will cost an arm and a leg to get them repaired, and you are better off replacing the unit. The clicking sound, by the way, is the power relay which turns the power transformer on. And if there are faults in the amp, speakers or wiring, the protection circuit shuts the relay off; that is the clicking sound you hear. Please let us know how this works, and if we can help you any further. Best regards, nightdiver

Denon AVR-1908 won't power on

Are you getting a standby light at all? Is it flashing? Do you here a click when you plug the unit in? If the answer is no to all of these then you blew a fuse. If you do have soome sort of standby light, then your set is in protect mode. More than likely for a blown channel. If no lights, but you ar egetting a click, you could have a bad transformer. Use a DVM and see if it is open or not. Good luck

Sounds like the power inverter/converter is faulty. (this is the box that is attached to power cord)

When i push power button clicks on immediately

I had this problem also and discovered an easy way to trick it into powering on: Click the power button, then within 1 second of the receiver powering off, click the power button again. The receiver should stay on this time. This works with both the button on the receiver and the remote control.
I would like to know what causes this problem and whether or not I should be concerned about damage being done. I assume this is a power protection. I haven't tried plugging this receiver into a different power socket to test, but I don't think the power plug is the problem. Note: I have the subwoofer plugged into the power plug on the back of the receiver.

Reciever wont stay powered on

I fear that there's no easy fix. Sounds like the power supply or the board which controls it is bad. If you're not an electronics repair person, it'll need to go to a repair shop.

Sounds like micro-processor is locked up or defective. Try unplugging unit for an hour, then power up. If this is not a fix, have pro-tech check it out.
