Monitor problem

That usually means that there is a problem with the power supply specifically the backlight. If you connect the monitor to the computer with the computer running, shine a flashlight to the monitor and look if you can see an image on the screen. If you do, then the problem is with the backlight power supply. Typical problems are blown capacitor and/or transistors. I don't have any info about the circuitry of that particular monitor to be of more help.

Samsung monitor loses picture

This is quite a typical problem, usually caused by defective electrolytic capacitors in the power supply of the monitor.
A good description of the phenomenon can be found here.
I'm afraid there's not much you can do, apart from having the monitor repaired - the defective capacitors need to be replaced.

Turn it on get picture for 1 second then black

Hello,

It sounds like you have a monitor with a common problem. After a few years some LCD monitors will blow a power supply. The problem is caused by parts called capacitors overheating in the confined space of the monitor. If you are good at electronics repair/soldering you can usually fix the problem. Check out a few pictures on my web site www.ccl-la.com/badcaps.htm We also have a step by step dis-assembly and repair guide for the Westinghouse monitors posted there. If you don't want to try the repair yourself we offer a repair service for $35 plus shipping.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

The capacitors do need to be installed with the correct + and-connections, note the stripe on the old one and insert the new onethe same way. If your problem is not the capacitorsthen it would be the backlights and that is much more difficult toreplace.

Hi, It could be the monitor itself that is failing, have you tried plugging in another monitor?

Other than that the recovery disc may not have had the exact drivers for your monitor so you may be able to get the drivers or display adapter drivers for that monitor and install them.

Let me know how you go,
