NAM2 locked. I have a Samsung SCH-u740 and I recently switched it from NAM1 to NAM2, and when the phone powered off and turned back on, it was locked and my new lock code I entered would not work nor would the last four digits of my phone number nor would 0000. How do I fix this?

its in the samsung frequently asked questions. All you do is go to windows calculater turn it to HEX enter the hex number under your batery switch the calculator to dec and the last 4 numbers is the NAM2 code

Thank you so much. I called Samsung customer service and they told me to go to the Verizon store and that they would have the equipment that would be needed to unlock my phone from NAM2. The store told me to call Samsung customer service. Ohhhh what a big help they were not. I did what you described and it worked without my having to reprogram the phone. Thank You

Hey!! My phone got switched to nam 2 lastnight and I fixed it today!!! All I did was call 1-888-987-4357 they ask for a hex # which is on the back of ur phone and your information like where u live and stuff and they put u on hold for a while so be patient bc after u get off hold they will ask u to enter codes and one of them they give u will work and there ya go lol ur phone can be used again (hey!! If u have already had this happen before and u had to call customer service for a code it will not work the second time) so if u see anybody else with this problem let them know this

This worked for me - Call #228, and it'll start reprogramming your phone. Just let it do that, and then the phone will restart... And when it starts again enter the last four digits of your phone number as the password, it should unlock. Then, I'd suggest going and changing back to NAM 1! =)

Switched to NAM2 and do not know the lock code.

Dial *22899 and press SEND to program the phone.
after it has finished downloading the programming information, the phone will reset.
The Lock code will now be set to the last 4 digits of your phone number.
when you have finished, be sure to switch back to NAM1 and dial *22899 again to re-program it.

Stupid code

If you can switch to nam1, that is your active phone number. If its asking for the code first the code will be 000000 or 0000

Initial programming needed

Dial *228 and press send. Listen for the prompt and press 1 to program your phone. Remain on the call while your phone is programmed (could take up to 2 minutes). Do not hang up until you hear, 'Your phone has been programmed successfully."
Good luck!

Cant unlock my phone

If you know your original lock code, take it in to your service provider, each code is diffrent and can only be programed manually, if you dont know your original lock code you will have to sacrific all info pics, mess, numbers, etc. by a reset... I can guide you through the steps to erase all if you lost your Unlock code, or switch back to nam1 if you know your lock code, ( when you switch back, if security is on automatic lock, password is required) intial programing code is not your Unlock code.

Network busy/error 2048

I had the same problem with my old phone the Samsung A660. After 45 minutes on phone with Bell Mobility tech support (which did nothing to cure the problem) I fiddled around with the settings abit, and found there is a setting for something called NAM1 and NAM2. I changed it to NAM1 and I was able to access the browser again! I'm not sure though if the U740 has this NAM1 and NAM2 setting. This what to did for the A660:

  • Press MENU
  • Scroll to (7) SETTINGS, Press OK
  • Scroll to (8) OTHERS, Press OK
  • Scroll to (5) SET NAM
  • Press OK

    NAM 1
    NAM 2
  • Scroll to option, Press OK to set
