My dog stepped on the remote, I think (one sec it was working, left the room, the tv had no sound). I can play movies and receive sound just fine, but when I try to watch cable...no sound. I can turn up th volume and hear the sound "indicator" get louder and louder, but stll no sound. Even when I unplug the cable cord, the static has no sound. I tried playing the with menu options, but to no avail. I used to have a TV that had a simular problem when you turned an option from SAP off to SAP on...but can't find an option on my RCA remote....can you help?

Sorry it took so long to reply, to your request for help. You need to use you owners manual and go to the section on audio controls. Check every function that can turn off the volume to the television while it is playing. Make sure all the controls are set properly for the use of the audio on the television. If you cannot find the problem and correct it this way, you can call the RCA customer support telephone number 1-800-645-4994. Give them the model number of your remote control and ask them for their assistance. I hope this information helps you with your remote control problem. Thank you for using FixYa and have a nice day!

test this steps and fix it. God bless you
  1. Check if the TV and Amplifier (if connected) is turned on and set correctly.
  2. Check if the TV, DVD player and Amplifier are connected properly.
  3. Make sure the TV, DVD player and Amplifier volume are not set to Mute.
  4. There will be no sound output during Reverse Play / Pause / Step / Slow / Search.

How to program remote to dish? 4.4 IR/UHF PRO

Your question is not clear as to whether you want to program the remote to your TV or the DISH receiver. Here are steps for both if this has not been resolved already!

DISH RECEIVER::
1. Go to the room where the receiver is located. With the remote for THAT room press menu twice. (This will be the remote with the Green 1 on the bottom.)
2. Press and release the SAT button on the top left of the remote
3. Press and release the black and red record button 3 times
4. Look that the number next to remote address (secondary Remote address) has changed.
5. If not, start again.

TV::
1. Hold down the Clear TV button until all lights at the top of the remote light up
2. Press the red TV POWER button
3. Press and release the up arrow on the remote about once a second until the tv turns off.
4. When it turns off, press the # (Pound) button
5. Try powering the tv on/off, and try the volume. If one or more of these functions do not work, start over at step 1 again.

Moved tv to another room turns on but cant get pic from sat

Hey there, this is Cheri Torres with DISH Network customerservice. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could be of someassistance. I do have few questions about your system that would help me togive you a better answer on what you will need to do to resolve this issue. Iwould first like to know what type of DISH Network receiver you have; youshould be able to find the model number on the front left side of your receiverbox. Is the type of receiver you have a dual receiver (plays two TVs from onereceiver)? Did you also move the receiver into a different room along with yourTV? If you are working with TV1 (the TV that is in the same room as yourreceiver) you are going to want to make sure your TV is either on channel 3 or4, or that it needs to be on a input (i.e. video 1, video 2, input 3 etc.). Youcan usually determine this by checking which type of cables you have. If youhave coax cables (black cable with silver end that you can screw into the TV)the TV will need to be set to channel 3/4. If the cables are RCA cables (yellow, white and red) or a HDMI cable (black cable with thin end) the TV will need tobe set on an input. For TV2 the second TV off of your receiver which should neverbe in the same room as the receiver the channel should be set for either 60 or73. I hope you find this information useful and if you are able to answer thequestions I would be able to help you a lot more with this issue. Feel free topost back here with a response or you can also email me atCheri.Torres@Dishnetwork.com. :)

I replace the tv to the bed room 2 remote and it doesnt work I cant watch cable and the remote is responding to the tv

Hey brandonericm, sounds like the remote may need to be readdressed to the receiver. I can definitely help with that. Here are some steps to help you:

1. Access System Information from main TV.
2. Note the number on the bottom by Primary/Secondary Remote Address.
3. Hold SAT on TV2 remote until all lights on top come on.
4. Let go and while SAT is blinking enter a number between 1-15 and press #.
5. Press record 3 times and the number should change to the one you chose.

My remote is not responding to the 2nd tv satellite... but it does work for the tv

Hello walker3putt, my name is Michael Hurst with DISH Network. Is this remote an IR or UHF? There are ways of reprogramming the remote to the receiver. If this is and IR remote for an independent receiver then you can try pulling the smartcard out and System Information will come up on the TV. Look at the Remote Address on the TV and write down the number. Then Hold Sat until all lights on top of remote light up. Let go of the Sat button and pick a number from 1-15 and then press # and Record. Your remote address should change. If there isn't a smartcard in the receiver then try the menu button on the front of the receiver. If this is a secondary remote and is UHF you will have to take remote 2 to the room where the receiver is located and follow the same steps.

Remote does not work at all

Phil with DISH Network here. Ideally we would want to knowwhat model remote we are having issues with, but here are some steps thatshould help.

Step 1:
Check if the issue is with a specific button. If its just one button that isnot working we need to have the remote replaced.

Step 2:
Check that the correct remote is being used for the TV in this room. Use remotekey (Green "1" or Blue "2 UHF") to confirm itis being used in the correct room. TV1 is located in the same room as your DISHreceiver.

Step 3:
If UHF, check that your UHF remote antenna is securely connected to the "RemoteAntenna" port on the back of your receiver and that the antenna isupright.

Step 4:
If issue is with the TV2 remote, bring your TV2 remote with you to TV1. Access "SystemInfo" at TV1, using the remote that is NOT functioning, pressand release the "SAT" button then press and release the RECORDbutton on remote control.

Step 5:
If the batteries in the remote have not been replaced in the past 60 days, replace the batteries. If the remote doesn't light up after replacingbatteries, have the remote replaced.

Step 6:
Unplug the receiver for 10 seconds then repeat step 4.

Step 7:
If the remote is still not working the issue may be caused by IR interference.Find interference source (back lighting or power save mode on LCD TV's,fluorescent lighting in room, or direct sunlight). Getting rid of theinterference should fix it.

After completing all these steps if you're remote is not working give us a callfor additional troubleshooting at 1-800-333-DISH (3474).

My IR remote no longer works in another room

Dawn,
If you want a remote that works via IR to control the satellite receiver you will need a IR only. The IR/UHF type only transmits signals to the receiver by UHF and the IR portion only operates the peripherals in the room such as the TV and VCR. There are some remotes that come with a kit that can change the remote to work as an IR only. I believe you have a TV2 remote and want it to work further away from the receiver particularly the room the TV is in. If this is the case you may have have to change the remote address of the new remote to match that of the old. You can do this by taking the number one remote and pressing menu-menu. Now take the new remote and press and hold the SAT button in the upper left of the remote until all lights across the top light up. Now key in the two digit number on the tv screen at remote address for tv2. Then press the pound sign and the SAT button will flash three times then press the record button and the TV2 icon should flash. Now you can cancell out of the screen on tv one and try the remote at the TV2 location. I believe this will fix your issue if not let me know. Thanks for using Fix Ya.
